Check this out!
http://www.digitalreality.hu/index_ongoing3.html
Nothing on it, no screenshots or anything, but it's very exciting!
And, guess what else: the modding tools are working!

Unfortunately, only a few have them, for testing purposes, but they will be out (hopefully) soon!
Also, there is a new 1.09 patch that's coming out! It's been released already (in Japan:(, which sucks :hopping: ), but it'll be coming here soon!
BTW, I've been dying for an excuse to use the :hopping: smile, and I finally found one :D

Graphics in Haegemonia were awesome, I'll give it that... but the gameplay sucked.
It's basically, whoever can build the biggest ships first wins. 4 fighter wings probably couldn't even take out a single corvette wing, its pretty pathetic. The planet management was good, I'll give it that too. I hope the expansion pack will improve on the gameplay though...

You can get Bershe's rebalance MOD, which really improves the game (it's stats only).
But, yes, I admit, the gameplay was off, but the battles were very fun to watch.

Depends really though how you used fighters.
They don't have any shields, but if you are using proton weapons (which pass through shields), coupled with the fighters defence bonus against hits and that fact that they move around instead of sitting in one place. They are moderately useful.
You should always keep a fighter group around for intercepting detected spy ships and for fast recon if you think something is happening.

While this also springs to mind, there are already modding tools out for haeg, though nothing 'official' mod tool wise has been released yet. The few tools that are out are text editor orientated but they are pretty versatile.
The official MDK should bust the lid wide open though if it's all it's cracked up to be.

Meh, I still prefer IG2......
