Title: PSP question
Post by: kasperl on June 13, 2003, 11:13:37 am
i have a scanned image of a friend of mine, where he took a copy of his own face, and gave it a cross between an carabian and Osama like hairstyle. now, i have all the different parts (beard, eyes, hair, hart, body, mouth and face) as layers,  and i'd like to make a little game for shooting him. now, i have an idea on how, bascily making image maps, linking the parts to wav files, and then putting thw whole thing in a marquee. now, in PSP, the image mapping tool won't allow me to select my layers as map parts, in fact, i can't select any part at all, since i don't have a cursor in the window when i try to select things.

how am i going to solve this?

(for those who don't know what marquee is, here:

Ok. Let's make a deal. I think I can help you.. but in exchange, you need to explain to me how and why you are putting an image file, presumably large, in a right to left scrolling marquee... maybe it's just late, and im a lil slow.

Explan, and then we'll talk...

I suppose suggesting using Director to do all this would be too obvious? (And expensive)

It can be... do you have an instant messanger that we could get together on? I'll show you what to do, its pretty simple.

I'll be gone from 11:00-1:15 EST, but after that I should be available.

the HTML part is something i can do myself, the only hard part is getting PSP to use the layers in image mapping.

i haven't got any real time this weekend, and next weekend is just before my test week, so this will have to go into the freezer for sometime, unless someone can post a way to use the layers to make the imagemap

send me the entire PSP file please. I'll make it work while you're busy... when im done, ill send you a detailed list of what I did...

You'll have to code the marquee, since I will only do the image map part with your layers.

I'll send you the email to use, via pm...

EDIT: Basically, to answer your question, AFAIK, using PSP, you can't directly select the layers to create the image map. Being from the graphic design world, I use my blessed Adobe products religiously, and can do exactly what you said above in a program called ImageReady. So you have a few options.[list=a]

i still have to record the wav files, but if you just give them the same name of the layer, i'll sort that out. i'd be very gratefull for this, and i'll sure post the finished product.

i'll send you the URL of this through PM, since i don't have any email that will send this thing, it's 1.3MB
