Post by: MAD Maniac on June 13, 2003, 05:47:34 pm
Hey guys,

Wld any of u be able to point me in the direction for tutorials that will help me "Adjust" the turret layout of the Hecate?
I really like the ship but have always felt it under gunned, so to speak, and wld like to have a go at giving it some more teeth. :D

Thanks in advance for any help

PS, i know i cld search but im outta time. Easiest way to get the info i need with out having to search through loadsa topics (plus im to lazy for that :D)

Its a hell of a lot harder and more time consuming than you would like to think... you have to convert the hecate to .cob, model on some turrets and texture them, add lights using TrueSpace, and converting it back...

Get someone else to do it for you! :D

It'll take bloody ages, especially if you have to learn how to do 3D modelling first....

You have two choices.

1) Modify the current turrets and make new ones by converting the ship to a .cob using PCS. Then fiddle around with the ship in TS then put it back together using PCS. You'll have to learn a lot about modding.

2) Change the weapons for each physical turret in FRED. Very easy. It won't make the ship look any different but it will allow you to upgrade the weapons in under 3 minutes.
Once you've made the changes you can then edit the table to make those changes permanent.

If you want to do the second version have a quick look in my FAQ (especially GE's table editing section of it)

Read some tutorials on how to use Truespace to sort out turrets (lights, namking, gluing etc.). You may want to get Trueview, a plugin for Truespace. Sorry I can't provide any links.

Funny this, I've been doing the same recently, first with the Fenris/Levithian, which was a real pig to sort get working again (still not totally correct, by the way), and the Hades, which WOULD work, but the LODs are kinda, messed up! 'see my thread 'LODs again...' for details'

So far, no one is willing to he me though....:(
