Ok guys the beam is not finished at the moment but i want know what you think about the beam......

the name is judgment beam its the strongest beam that the alliance have....
so what do you think ?
-
Looks more pinpoint-accuracy/pointy rather than blunt power. Although, I must say, the beam itself looks exceptional.
-
It will be wider, bigger, meaner....:D
-
I'd say make it a bit wider, and possibly at bit wavy, as the huge amounts of power are hard to contain, or some excuse like that.:D
-
We allready have the HE-Green* beam and it's really powerfull and REALLY wavy. The third* most powerfull beam, but has long range, long lifetime and a decent fire wait...
* High Energy
* The Plasma Particle beam is the second one. It has short range, VERY short lifetime (1.5 - 2 sec), but does BIG BIG damage!
-
Sort of a "get too close and you get this down your throat" beam, then?:D

Now its wider...
-
It looks good, but it still doesn't look like the most powerful beam
-
Looks very nice, but somewhat weedy... i don;t think you can really get the desired effect of raw power - at least not in a static screenshot - using dark colours like blue. IMO you need to make the centre much, much lighter to make it look more 'hot' - i.e close to white. I think this works ok;

Of course, you also run the risk of making it look a bit to generic - pretty much every beam in FS2 looks that way, too.
Judgement Beam isn't a very good name, though. Too long for any sort of practical use (would end up being shortened to 'JBeam' or something).
-
ooh yeah, If you're going to name a beam, you're going to want to give it mroe of a designation, or type (i.e. Type XII Phasers or whatever). It would sound kind of silly if the Federation or the GTVA for that matter had "Murder Torpedoes" or "Judgement Beams".
-
The beam looks very well done
But by looking at it, it looks more like a surgical strike weapon not like an brute force beam, otherwise very good...
-
Those are some very square explosions...
Anyway, I like the beam the way it is. Looks very... compact. Higher cohesion, which would give it much more power, actually.
-
Very nice looking beam, but it looks like it is more of a high-powered cutting laser than a uber powerful everything killling weapon. make it wider, and make the white part wider.
-
perhaps make some "static" effects along the beam?
or, is it possible to begin with that "little" dark blue beam, and you can hear it charging up power, then after about 3 seconds: BWAM it just widens up.
-
I played bit with the Zadd and Flicker and actually got a lightning effect!
The beam dances around like crazy.....
"Beware the wrath of the GTD Zeus!"
EDIT: I allso made a particle beam, where little white paticles swirl around the beam..looks cool

screenies

Aldo, is the Ogodad supposed to have a giant beam cannon or am I missing something? And... that's not Pellestrom's Mega Beam, is it?

HOW?? I'd like/need to combine both for a new beam-esque weapon. Now that the 'swirling helixes' idea for the SCP doesn't seem to have been successful, I'm after new ideas!
-
As for the particle beam - I actually just made a special pcx, where I added white dots around the main beam. They don't exactly swirl, but it still looks good in the game.....
As for the lightning effect.. i tried it on the Judgment beam....
I'll post a screenie..later

Our biggest beam, although a prototype version (the final one should look much more photogenic).
-
Terran, something's wrong with my FRED...
Do me favor...
Set the Judgment Beam's Flicker and Zadd like this:
- for the firts pcx, Flicker 3.0, Zadd 3.0
- for the second pcx, Flicker 4.0, Zadd 4.0
Test it and post a screeny, will you?

Ah yes, but what exactly did you DO? As in Tbl stuff. I'd really like to know because it would REALLY help me! :D

Yup, and yup. It's all in the CoW story.

Hey Aldo, that looks sweet - without the HUD, and it'd be a pretty sweet render. :)

Look above...
I set real high Zadd and Flicker values.
Take a blue beam and try ... I don't know if it will work by you...
