Kestrel sorta thing, looks like oh-so-many cruisers but I like it anyway.
ICC Galos Class Escort Cruiser
A devastating but short-lived model, the IC Galos class served for 20 years as a complement to the Paladin escort. While the Paladin features a wide dispersal range and full-body turret coverage with no one point providing particularly lethal damage, the Galos class mounted only three light turrets providing minimal lateral protection, with power focused in the high-output wingtip cannons and rapid-fire nose guns. The Galos class relies heavily on advanced avionics computers, and with a crew of only three makes an ideal cruiser for merchants, mercenaries, or pirates.

Nice and simple, I like the red X shape to it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/devil.gif)

Had to reconstruct my resource files from scratch just now, buddy. Look again and say something nice.

It reminds me of the Excalibur from B5:Crusade. This is a good thing, IMHO. I'd love to see a closer, brighter picture though.

What he said...

Well, I think you're really improving (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
It's actually very nice, only thing is that you should work on better weapon designs, it's time to bypass the "box + cylinder" step (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Well, if you like, the main guns all have hollow barrels... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) What more is there to a forward gun? Not a turret, I'm putting a lot of detail and variety in those, but a standard gun.

Ditch the hollow barrels. Use a texture instead. Hollow barrels eat up polys for little-to-no visual impact.
I think what Venom is saying (please feel free to correct me, Venom) is that ship's cannon is more than just a box with a barrel attached. You can use a box with a cylinder to represent a gun, but it just looks like a box with a cylinder. On the other hand, if you use a long, rectangular box with the long edges chamfered and some miscellaneous 'techie' looking bits (like hoses and power mains and the like), you go from a box-and-cylinder to a heavy particle cannon.
Hrm... I guess what I'm saying, is a box-and-cylinder lacks personality. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Yeah, THOSE have personality. Especially the quadpacks. They really give a ship that beefy look. I haven't looked at the cannon avatars yet. I might have to take a look at the assault cannons and the PBCs.
I need to see about getting visible avatars into the Molly model, now that you mention it. All the hardpoints are hidden.

You have time to LOOK in between blowing **** up and getting blown up? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
Ah, every time I use the outside views I meet a Marauder or crash into something... but I'll try

I recommend taking a look at your ship before you leave your home base. They never show up there. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

really? well, when you're at the other side of the accelerator, believe me, they do (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
the best moment to look at your ship is during LDS flight.
