Title: mp3 to wav

Fs2 support only wav files and the DOTA music is too big for download the theme is over 10 mb in wav format convertet to 22050 hz and 16 bit so my question know anyone a mp3 converter that the program automatic convert the mp3 file after install into wav's

know anyone so a program or what format can i else use ?

There are certainly programs that do this, off the top of my head I can think of mpg123/321, Winamps Disk Writer plugin and I think even Nero offers the facility but all of these require you perform the conversion manually, they don't do it automatically in the way you suggest.

Did you try the ADPCM compression on those wave files?  FS2 understands it and it gets smaller by a bit.

Well indeed, if you use the same compression as FS's wavs, the files can be much smaller than usual.

Yeah i use ADPCM why do fs2 not support ogg,  wma or other small file formats ?

WMA is proprietary and I don't think OGG even existed when FS2 was released.

this is the one i've been using lately... you can convert/rip from WAV, OGG, MP3, WMA, and a dozen other formats... highly recommend.

i never tried it don't know if fs likes it but why not the APE format

FS2 likes the following: WAV.

Thats it. Yeh you can use the ADPCM compression but thats all.

I do think we need some sort of support for third party audio codecs, but I'll leave that to the programmers.
