Ambient lighting = bad
Idea = good
you should try to make the lights on the ships match the scenery...

Wasn't meant to look cell shaded.... just happened!

As for the lighting, yeh that needs work. I was mainly trying to get the weapons looking right (in terms of the light at the back of the constitution and front of the D7. )
