I am having a little problem designing my own HUD. I want to have a modified-looking 'Kills' indicator.
Well, I unextractred the 2_Kills1.ani from the main vp. Aniview1.0-Save as BMP. Paint for Win98-Modify as I want it to look like. Adobe Photoshop 4.0-Transform to PCX.
The BMP was originally 256-color, my .ani(and the original, too) went with 30 fps, and consisted of one frame. In Advanced options of Anibuilder, I set the option of Main Hall animation and 30 FPS. I made the .ani named as 2_kills1.ani, I placed it to data\hud. I play in 1024x768(2_kills1.ani means it is the ani for 1024x768), but the original 'Kills' indicator remained.
What have I done wrong?
Perhaps something minimal detail evaded my attention?
I made this (http://www.nexus.hu/harace//2_kills1.ani)

Two suggestions - try 15 fps and try editing just plain kills1.ani (if it exists, can;t be screwed to go check :))
Sometimes, V reused 640x480 stuff iin the hi res HUD.

That's right.
I found, when making a HUD for the TVWP, that most of the High-Red hud files aren't used. Instead, the low-res version are just embiggened.
So just modify the low-res version, instead.
Also, if you're going to modify the damage boxes and other variable-size gauges, be sure to make sure they all are aligned.
Which reminds me, I'd better get back to work on that HUD.

I'll have a look if your suggestion works. Can this be a way to give the player a cockpit front of his eyes? The HUD of Petrarch is good, but exactly I don't see those indicators edited, I want to. These are weapons, kills, time, wingmen, escort, and directives. A new crosshair would be good to have, that one is getting boring.

I am now proceeding fine, only my HUD is looking very strange. A question: How can I place indicators to another place? I want to move the Gun/Engine power next to each other.
-
They're hard-coded, I'm afraid, you'd have to ask one of the SCP guys.
-
Then I would better ignore it. Well, my new crosshair is not working, there is nothing instead of it(which conviences me it sees my version, just cannot read it, despite it has 256-colors and greyscale colors, size not changed, and I used the same three colors which are in the original reticle.)
How do my ANI look like? ANIbiulder properties?
The current is:
30 fps(also tried 15), Main hall animation. The entire thing is one frame.
