Title: About the www.Freespace2.com domain

How long is that domain name going to remain active? After it expires could we move in and make a site with links to the HOTU download, major sites, and major projects in the fs2 community?

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I'd be more than happy to pay for the domain.:nod:

I think you wouldn't be allowed to run that as a domain as it's still under copyright if it's active or not.

is there any chance on getting V to update there links page?

or at least letting us do it by having that page refer to some page on another server.

Yeah, I think you're right, I totally forgot about copyrights. :)

But maybe we can, like Kasperl said, get them to update their links.

Or we could try to get them to let us fix up the site.

I'll mention it next time I chat with DaveB, but don't expect any miracles.

On the other hand, if some evil hacker were to somehow crack into that site and update the links, removing dead ones and adding in the active but missing ones, I don't know how many people would notice.... :nervous:

even if Freespace 2 was Volition's worst selling game, they'll never let the domain 'expire' so other people can buy it.  it's about the game title.
