Title: Life is bizzare...
Post by: Turnsky on June 29, 2003, 08:58:16 pm
Backstory: A while ago, my mother was diagnosed with a rare variety of cataracts, and since then her version has gotten gradually worse, to the point that she can no longer read, let alone drive a motor vehicle, she got bumped up the two year waiting list and she get's them done next month..

that's not the bizzare thing tho, centerlink(aust's social security) expects her sign some documents to prove that she's legally blind...

and now, the hospital's asked her to write her details down in some consent forms to have her eyes fixed up...

now tell me... HOW precisely do they expect her to write in those things if she can't see a bloody thing?:doubt:

Meh. Beaurocracy blows goats. :doubt:

Can she get you to do sign for her, or does she have to do it herself? I wouldv'e thought that there would be some legal provision for this sort of thing, but then again....

Good luck with it, though - hope it all goes smoothly and she recovers from it soon. :)

Cool! I've seen that on customers a few times at work, but it's usually blue/grey or green/grey, rather than completely different colours like that.

Ha! Next time it happens, look really shocked and worried, and go "What? Really? No-one's ever said that before!" etc, and run off to find a mirror. Or stretch out some sarcasm as far as it can go, and see if they actually notice, or are convinced you're serious...

I think they're just expecting somebody'll put her hand in the right place and she'll scribble a couple random loops so they can feel good about themselves.

****, nobody's ever given a **** about my signature, and it's hard to tell the difference between it and where I got the ink running in the pen.

David Bowie also has two different colored eyes, hmmm..
Wonder if it help sell his music? probably not, haven`t heard any new songs from him in a while..

But then again, i`m not really up to date on the music world, there are so many groups to keep up with anymore its mind boggling..:eek2:

(edit) That seems sorta dumb that they want her to fill out forms that she can`t see, but then again this can sometimes be a crazy world we live in.
