Found this earlier today. Got to be the coolest case mod I've seen in a long time.

Cool
-
stupid but cool.
-
Neat, but there are a hundred more just like it at mini-itx.com...
-
Be ok until the younger brother comes in, and starts waving it around...

that's pretty cool, but not practical. the only "mod" i've ever done to computers is the one time i took an aluminum case (with foam padding and stuff inside... i think it was supposed to hold components for a gun, probably a rifle, because the case was pretty big. about the size of a briefcase, but slightly thicker) and i made an entire computer inside it. with motherboard, processor, a hard drive, everything, and it never once overheated. the power supply fan was toward the outside (the top of the case, by the handle), and i had two ducts (made out of the aluminum pipe i bought at an auto store that's meant to run air from the carburator to the engine, it worked awesome, it was just the right size) with fans on the end of them (on the outside of the case) which one just sucked hot air out of the case, the other sucked cool air from outside onto the processor...
it worked perfectly, and never once overheated. i could run it with the case closed, plugging power, monitor, mouse, and keyboard on the left side of the case, or i could open it up for more venting, or if it was going to run for longer periods of time. i originally thought i could take it to school so i could work on it instead of the cheap computers we have at school, but i never got around to doing that, and in the end, after a few months, i started using components for other things ;)

;7 sweet

I've been meaning to put a fish-tank in the side of mine for a while, but I kinda spent all the cash I had for it on booze.
-
...I spent all the money I had for booze on case mods :(

I have money for both. Bwahaha.

[bad joke]Luke: How fast can it go?
Han: it can make 2.3 ghz[/bad joke]
-
If I could get stab() working on Inter-Stab 2003©, you'd be bleeding right now.
-
hence the [bad joke][/bad joke] tags;)
i knew it was an evil joke when i made it...

*winces*:ick
Never understood case modding, myself - it costs loads of money, for no actual performance increase. It's like painting go-faster stripes and flames on a car. Also, only a few people are ever going to see it, so it's an even bigger waste. I'd spend the money on booze any day. Or new games/CDs/DVDs/clothes/whatever...
-
Case modding is lame- it's like hot-rodding for people too dweeby to even make their car look gay. If you could figure out a way to get autodefense turrets on a case, mind... keep those ****ers out of my cache logs once and for all!
-
Eh, case mods are for those who go to LAN parties monthly. *shrugs* The only case mod I'm doing is putting an additional fan in the side, with a built-in green LED to light the thing up. Only $10.
Now, where's the CD drive on that thing? If it was the engine strip, THAT would be cool, but it's not, so it isn't.

plus this one is the worst, I used to kick my PC from times to times ( no, really, a problem with the HD rack fan ), with that stupid thing, one quick and my PC would be dispatched puzzle-way. Plus where's the room for adding anything? where's the warrenty asying that the thing won't melt? Oh, and most likely the best air flow ever
"keeps his ugly, cheaper and more efficient case"
-
Yeah... but I haven't had so much luck not damaging standard cases, either. I remember one old computer was OC for a year because a well-placed, ah, hard boot dislodged the video card.;)
-
lol :D
Well, I moved the case a couple monthes ago, so instead of kicking it, I could slap it. Last week, the fan really got on my nerves so I removed the rack.
-
Does slapping work? I dunno...
-
it worked. till the next time :p

It's a Via C3 CPU, they don't run all that hot to begin with. Also, Mini-ITX boards aren't really designed with expandibility as a priority, everything you need is built in and they're meant for such purposes as HTPCs and the like, anything you need a small embedded computer that doesn't need to run 3D games. The fact you can build them into all manner of tiny enclosures (old console cases seem to be a favourite at mini-itx.com) is a bonus.
-
so you have a crappy PC in a ridiculous case. That's all great if you ask me.
if you want tiny, better get a laptop, no?
-
Laptops are for ****. They'll also tear your ****ing arm out at the shoulder.
If you want small, you get one of those little palm thingies and a keyboard. Or you fork over a few grand for one of those wearable rigs with the eyepiece.
You're losing your touch, aren't you, Venom?:p

My touch? did I ever have one? :p
Well, palm pilots and stuff have never been my stuff, I can't say I like them or not, never tried, but , well, at least, a laptop, you feel like the thing is big enough for the money you spent on it
Nah, dunno. Anyway, anything is better than a Millenium Condor case, really ( even more when it's not the first time I see this one... ). But heh, people do what they want with their money after all, I buy stuff that other people would find utterly stupid, so...
edit: fixed typos. I need to learn to check for typos BEFORE I post :doubt:
-
They're utter crap. Only good for word processing, and barely even for that, since the screen's so small you can only read a sentence at a time so if you're writing anything bigger than a sentence it'll likely come out a disjointed mess. Still, if ye absolutely have to move around with a computer and ****...

A laptop is overkill when all you want is something that'll sit on top of your TV or in your Home Theatre setup and play DivX's/DVDs/MP3s etc. Old consoles and Millenium Falcon models aren't the be all and end all of Mini ITX cases, more conventional looking models are available. Hell, several manufacturers make cases entirely for this purpose that look just like any other piece of HiFi equipment. Home Theatre isn't all small PCs are good for, either. Shuttle (among others, although I believe Shuttle came up with the idea first) are making full-blown PCs in fairly small cases (example: The SN41G2) for situations where space is at a premium (and laptops are too expensive). They may be "crappy PCs" but contrary to what you seem to believe, not everyone needs are fully loaded firebreather of a PC.
-
no, what I believe is that this thing is expensive ( coz yes it is ) and inefficient ( try to put that on your TV for a laugh, btw ).
But in fact I don't care, so I'm done with that.

That, at least looks quite good, and is interesting because of the airflow management, and that cable dealing thinguy.
