Well, I've been trying to grab myself a copy of Freespace2, but opted rather to get the Underdogs version and try to get the missing files as I'm not looking to spend 70$CAD on ebay or amazon to grab a full copy.
From what I've read I'm tolf this is the best place to get to know where I can grab the missing '.vp' files. I know that they are rather large, but what I am willing to do is to host any of the files I am sent so others can grab them too.
I can spare ~25kB/s of upstream here on my connection, and I just have to set up an FTP server and then others can log on and grab the files.
Anyways, my experience playing freespace has been rather limited, and I just wanted to get back into it after playing the demo again. I play a lot of Battlecruiser Millennium, and I just wanted to get some hardcore figter action in, and FS gives that to me.
Anyways, if anyone can tell me the best place to find the '.vs' files [I've not had much luck finding them on Kazaa, though I'm d/l the FS2 version off there to see if it contains any]. I'll host any that I can find.
As it stands now, to get the game to run at 1024x768 I'm using the sparky_hi_fs2.vp from the demo, but it's only 28MB. And since I don't have the original '.exe' I can't patch it to 1.2, so I'm using FS_open.
Cheers!

Sounds like a good deal. :) You get the files and so does everyone else :)
I'm currently not doing much with my connection at the moment. PM me with your details and I'll upload the files for you :)

Dunno how much Canadian Dollars are worth but I've seen FS2 go for 5 US dollars on ebay (Was a pwetty old copy though)...

Ok, well here's how it will go.
I've got the FTP server up and running right now.
You can log in anonymously if I have not given you an account. [If you are going to upload, you can email me and I will give you your own account.]
However as it stands, anyone can upload into the UPLOADS directory.
To connect, you must use PASSIVE FTP.
server: gaming.playnow.ca
port: 6968
There's nothing there right now, but there will be soon I hope.
Cheers!

People, where are your manners? No one even gave Fractux the proper greeting.
*Fire Control, target Fractux. Warm up the beam. And... FIRE!*

Exits are to the sides and rear. Personal flamethrowers are located beneath your seat in case of emergency or naughty disposition. If you run into any Shivans while crawling through the ductwork, it's probably just Carl. Give him your lunch, back away slowly, and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the greeting Sesquipedalian. :D
Cheers! :)

I would help you out and send the files to ya, but my upload is slow and I like to use it for other things :p
And here's my greeting :)

If you spelled my nickname correctly the first time without copying and pasting, you get bonus points. Have fun here at HLP. It is a nice place.

LOL, to be on the safe side I used the scissors and glue. I didn't want to upset anyone by spelling the names wrong, as my typing skills tend to lean towards adding in ramdom letters and numbers. :D

Nope, i can't say I did. Though I just took a look at the link you have, and it looks pretty cool.
As far as shows go, I was more or less stuck on ST and BattleStar Galactica for a long time, and I've only recently started to watch other series such as Babylon 5. I'll give this series a look.
Cheers!

That 'welcome beam' has been chaged, even nicer, but the classic 'gunnery control, open fire!' sentence is mistaken. :)
Otherwise I would say that beam is in wrong place, that turret is a normal turret, not a beam.
Not a critical error, just noticed, details are always to be looked after.

Who says you can't refit a deimos to have a BGreen on the side? :)

I know it is not much work, only a few clicks in FRED and some engineering tricks if it were in the real life, but the default armament is a Terran Turret on that turret. No doubt, we are both right. Have a look at the middle turret on the top of the ship, how do you explain that 'red' thing. It appears to be a destroyed turret effect.

Maybe the GTVA got smart and actually put beams on the sides of their ships so they could actually do something on capship duels.
