Yup, its Narsil from the LOTR trilogy. The Sword that cut off the ring, reforged! :D FEAR ME!!!

Well, anyway, its a kickass sword and will be even cooler when the third movie comes out and it'll take center stage again!
Anyone else got any swords?
-

is that functional or just decoration?
and if it's functional, what kinda weapons permit do you need for one of those?
i know that in holland you need a permit for a knife with a blade longer then 15CM or something.

Then I've been doing something illigal for about 6 years... I've had the police in my house a few times and they didn't do anything. Also I think this weapon permit is only needed for use outside of the house.
Besides, the police here won't do a thing unless you actually start attacking people :p

police, out here?
come on, the nearest police station is 15KM away, and the last time i saw a cop patrolling out here was at least a month ago.
but i thought that it was for outside the house, but there is also a limit to what you can have inside.
-
15 cm? Thats not much.... most large kitchen knives are longer than that...

Yeah, I think its bull anyway. I never heard of such laws. Cause Katanas are legal (just checked). Only certain knives are considered illigal when carried in plain sight outside your own house.
-
Here in Canada I think the "permit size" is over a foot long... thats around 26cm I think.... bit more reasonable...
-
a foot is 33CM
and i said i wasn't sure about that sixe, perhaps it was more. but i don't think you can carry a sharp broadswoard around the city.
-
You sure? There's about 2.2 cm in an inch... 12 inches in a foot....
-
I always though an inch was 2.5cm.... :wtf:
Ah screw you all... YAY! for metric system!
-
Yeah... stupid Americans.... only reason I use it is because my parents still use it...
-
I'd like to take this moment to point out Canadian driving skills as a whole. Thank you.
;)
*wonders why Tiara has had cops in her house numerous times*
-
What about them? I can tell you to stay the hell out of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver if you want to survive the traffic... anywhere else and I say "what traffic?"
-
Well you might not have as much traffic if you were allowed to drive faster than 60 - 80 kph......
.... never mind.
-
Just because you're not allowed to drive faster than that doesnt mean people dont.....
people here do bloody 100k in downtown ****ing Vancouver sometimes.....
-
Its false edged, so its not functional. Though I do have a folded metal katana that cost a pritty penny. Thankfully I didn't buy it, but it was once owned by a friend, but when he died suddenly, his parents gave it to me. Its sharp as hell, beautiful, and can chop about anything in half. Though I've never tried. And never will. Its too sentimental. AAnyway, katanas are sweet weapons. Heres one I'm thinking of adding to my collection. Its sharp, and functional, but its not "real" as in folded wise.
Oooh Baby... (http://www.weaponmasters.com/index.html?ID=ea7896c2dfba9a998f9a9ccd13b91d05&ITEM=UC-1259&SORT=&FDX=&FMAX=)
I think it looks cool, something "different" along side the Real Katana and Narsil.
This is the site I got Narsil from. Real good prices and has every bloody sword you could ever dream of. So I strongly suggest it. Frost Viking swords to fully folded katana swords to actual samurai armour. Price range from $8 to $2,000.

Doesn't sound like you have too much traffic then if people can drive 100k downtown. :p

Looks like Blade's stick, that does. I was gonna bring meself back a sword when I was in Mt St Michel in France a few years back, but the old man didn't want to risk bringing it through customs. I pointed out that he had two umbreallas with metal tips in the boot which would do just as much damage if wielded as weapon, but as usual his parenting instincts overrode his logical reasoning and here I am, swordless.
Still, I got the last laugh buy buying half a dozen air pistols :)
-
Mph, fantasy ****. Actually use that thing the handle'd take your ****in' hand off before you did anything.
Really, if you're buying nonfunctional weapons because you saw something like them in a fairy tale movie once, you could spend the same money on a tiara and frilly dress and convey precisely the same message to your friends without looking like a fool to boot.
Mind, my cheapass wakazashi has a severe risk of the blade flying off in mid-thwack and the machete isn't exactly capable of that whole stabbity action that's rather important to the knife thing (even if you can shave with it), but it's the principle of the thing, dammit!
-
Those real katana's are damn hard to break. My dad has one that his dad took off a japanese fighter in WWII. He says that the sword took a shotgun round and is still razor sharp.

I saw one exactly like you are describing on Mail Call (history Channel show) the other day :)
-
Yeah, but the $30 kind are so flimsy the handle is just screwed-on stacking.:p
-
Well, mine cost a lot more... :doubt:
-
i bet you want a REAL Battleaxe eh, Tiara?:p

Well, the only thing that makes the sword non functional is that its not sharpened, that can be easily fixed. Its a real tempered sword, so the blade wont fly off if you play around with it. But my question is, why play around with it? What do you need real sword for anyway? I'm happy with this, be it sharp or not.
-
that, and the local authorities might have a little problem with people waving blades around, sharpened or not:p
-
i got 3 katanas those swords are very old 500 years and they belong to my familys history we all moust lost them 10 years ago
after that we hide them
-
let me geuss, wherever you live, they have a strict 'NO LARGE SHARP, POINTY OBJECTS ALLOWED - lest the be ginsu knives' or somesuch?:p
-
no we did it because so many wanted to buy them :p
-
ah, the old "no selling of family hierlooms" thing eh?
fair enough..
