Is there any proggie out there such as a random background generator? I'm too lazy to do my own backgrounds, so i'd rather have a proggie do it for me. If there is one(which i doubt), could you gimme a link??? Thanks!!!

Kazan's background generator, among other programs can be found in the The Alliance Productions FreeSpace 2 Kit, which can be found here (http://alliance.sourceforge.net/FS2Kit.shtml)

You sound like you're buidling something? Care to let us in? ;7

Just a campaign im making in FRED. I've already finished 5 missions, and I've been working on it for about a week. The mission are pretty high quality, so I hope it turns out good in the end.
I'm trying to try something different, and it might not quite work out, but oh well.... You'll find out when I release it...

Cool beans.....
on a semi related note, what's with people stealing my quote? :p
-
How do i get that program to work??? Could you walk me through it?
KT: Whatever, I added it when I saw it, thought it was a great quote, which it is.
-
you make the 407th guy to think that....... :p

K, you know those two files it asks for? Those need to be in C:\Program Files\Kazan, irrespective of where the program is installed. If you don't have a C drive, you're probably shafted.
Then, browse the input file to your FS2 mission and the output file to the same mission, and click the button... boom. You may need to tweak it a bit in FRED since it is random and not always artistic.

I have tried it, really quick, but I think it scales the images too... big, even 6-13 scaled images are so often.
-
I didn't like it. It scattered nebula bitmaps randomly. I could make a better background in 10 minutes.
-
Kazan won't be impressed hearing these critics. That utility is truly unable to do 'nice' background effect, mostly because it scales the bitmaps VERY big. An upgraded version where we could set the max. num, and scaling of a bitmap would be useful.

You can already do that:rolleyes:

Be creative, do it yourself! I mean, making a background really isn't the hardest part of FREDding... I make a pwetty good one in a few minutes and when specifics are needed 10 minutes tops.
Third party programs for these things are kinda useless IMO...
-
Yeah, I just realized that I should just do it myself, it makes it so it doesn't look good at all...

We'll see an updated version, if Kazan decides to update his proggy.

These missions used backgrounds from the said generator:

(Yes that last planet don't look so good, but I'd done the shots before I fixed it)
My point is I thought they looked good.

that's strange, it never game me backgrounds near that good looking.

 *points and laughs at half planet*

It looks dirty if you have a closer look. During flying, when you are being chased by 4 Thoths and fired upon by two AAAs, it doesn't disturb you much.
