I've been watching lately these Japanese horror movies. IE: The Ring trilogy, Dark Water, Audition, Ichi the Killer (not really horror but gruesome) The eye (Chinese I know) etc. And I have to say they're pritty darned good! Better than any kind of mainstream Hollywood horror crap that they're dishing out these days. Apart from What Lies Beneath. I just watched Dark Water yesterday. And it too had a creepy little girl. This time she wore a yellow raincoat and had a red bag that popped up everywhere. Creepy. :shaking:
Anyway, anyone else seen any Japanese/asian horror movies of merit? What do you think of them? What IS the scariest/disturbing movie you've ever seen?

wasn't the ring Chinese?
-
Orginal Ring trilogy is japanese

Horror movies don't scare me. i usually laugh... There are a few exceptions though, but I can't think of the names of those movies right now.

well, those above ( the ring for exemple ) aren't horror movies. they're... "takes dictionary". ah crap, it's translated the same in englishb, how stupid is that? Ah well, it's not about gore or blood or dismembered people, it's about creepy atmosphere and stuff ( nothing like braindead - which I love for it's funnyness :P - °
To answer to the thread's title: well, like every country, they have good movies, and have crappy ones ;).

that's not scary, that's pure fun :D
And some awesome directing. The scene at the light tower still impresses me.

But the scene in the Kitchen is the best. :D

I'm not really sure what scares me most...
then again I can't remember any japanese horror movies I've seen :p
