Disaster struck. In other words... my little brother touched the computer. While I was repairing several registry entries and recovering some lost data my little brother decided to play a prank on me by deleting 50% of all my hard drives. I lost my campaign, the HLP RPG and a hell of a lot more.
If you don't hear from me for a while its because I'm deporting the dead, incinirated, chopped up body of my brother to some distant halabalooiestan country.

as i said on IRC, use him for target practice.

Ain't no such monster, unless he used those US Govt. rated file deleter/wipers.

Well, I haven't been able to recover my files. Not even a computer expert at TCO's work has been able to.

T, a question: how old is your little brother?
-
i hope to god you've backed up...:blah:

I did, but I also lost that... (Probably not my brothers fault as it has something to do with the corrupted registry entries)
All I have left is a few uploaded charas... :(:(:(:(:(:(

11... He's now no longer a little kid, but instead a little punching bag.

I suggest that you give him a damned good thrashing. On the hour. Every hour. For a week.
That might be a bit overt, but it's the only way.
I'm glad all my siblings left hime when I was still at a very young age, as I never got any such treatment off them. (There's about 20 years between me and my eldest sister...)
-
well, he still lives with my parents. He was just visiting.

[color=66ff00]Make a list of all of the stuff that people have made for you, post it here and they can all resubmit the work to you. Hopefully they haven't deleted it too.
BTW 50% is what 60 gigs or something? :sigh: Isn't that what you said your disk capacity was?

Tried that... Turned up about 200 megs of useless junk I didn't even know I had.
And Maeg, 200 gigs (Recently expanded... again). 100 got deleted...

Click on the link Goober gave you. I managed to recover quite a lot of lost info using it when I had a major crash a while back.
It's a pretty simple program to use too.

System Restore?
And I'm sure he didn't PERMANETLY delete it.
-
Did he use the command line and use some command like deltree [/Y] *.* or rm -rf *? Or was he just malicious and clear your recycle bin?

Does that ever make you wonder that you were an accident?
-
Nope. As they're my half-siblings, my mother being married twice, you see.
-
All he really had to do was to start deleting then defrag after he was done... Sorry for the loss Tiara, though I have heard that incinerators are really good for body disposal... :drevil: :drevil:

Did you try that particular program? I've found it much more useful than most.
If you did, and still couldn't get it, then that really stinks.
-
See, this is why I make a regular point of sharpening the machete in front of my family.
Anyway, you might want a more professional piece of file recovery software. They're around $200, but make your brother pay for it- seriously. Exaggerate the importance of the stuff on there whenever possible, ***** endlessly to your parents, and don't let him over again for at least a year- he'll get the message and never touch your machine again. Trust me on this. It might make you unpopular among your siblings, but being a horrible asshole when it comes to computers keeps your files intact- I haven't been virused once since I took to forcing mine off regularly on slight pretexts and deleting their MP3s when they land in my folders.

Hmmm... This is also a fine oppertunity to test my new katana's. Other then that, he's permanently banned from the study room (Where we have the comp) and he's gonna type my entire friggin text from my last essay (232 pages) cause I need it on the comp.

Whats this essay about? Id hate to have to do that. :shaking:
-
I have to admit, I'd probably kill my brother if he did that to me.
-
My computer is holy, i made my clear she can't touch it or i'll format her comp. And she hasn't touched it so far.
-
Well uh... sorry. About disposing of the body: tires burn really hot, hot enough to burn bones... just a thought:drevil:

dang... is there any way to fix the registry entries?
oh, ever heard of 'norton ghost'?
-
sounds like my brother...
-
*turnsky rejoices the fact he's born an only child*
*and the fact that he's the only one that has access to his computer(both of them)*
-
Turnsky, I tried almost everything. It all failed. I decided to rebuild the RPG. I'll post more on that later when I have the time.
-
Oh dear... these times I'm quite happy that I'm an only child. Christ. I feel sorry for you Tiara... and maybe I should start to feel sorry for your brother too.

Don't even dare...

nah, you do feel sorry Tiara, sorry that he exists:p
-
heh, ok no pity for your brother. He doesn't deserve it anyway I guess...

Hm, have to recall that... He foundthe missing FS2 CD... Im not mad anymore, so hapy in fact, I let him microwave Silent Threat...
-
heh, this is one of the reasons I set my computer to lock itself when the screensaver activates. Oh, and I have something that may have helped but it's highly likely you've tampered with the drive too much by now to make it effective.
-
I have a little brother of the same age (11) but he also has lots of stuff on the hard drive, which works like an insurance; we don't delete each other's things to keep our own things from being deleted. :D Also, he and my parents are in India at the moment, so I don't have to share the computer for a while. :D

I'd be interested in that. I still haven't touched the HD that crashed on me a few months back so I'd be interested in seeing if I could recover anything from it.
