Title: Where to obtain sound effects
Post by: diamondgeezer on January 08, 2002, 09:30:00 pm
OK, spent this evening searching the ole interweb thingy, but most everything I could find was either on CDs (at $10 a piece) or comedy clips.

Does anybody know a site(s) that just lets you download wavs or whatever of SFX - I'm specifically after spooky, scary stuff. I found a few such sites but they were pretty limited.

Spanking you kindly in advance

some times you will find the sound effects at a different sampling rate or frequency.  This effects the quality drastically, i use a converter found in Cool Edit Pro to open the waves and then convert them to freespace or Star trek armada, or any other games i TC mod for

Same here; there are several unused sound files in the original C&C, which I dropped into my FS2 campaign. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) FS/FS2 alone have a lot of unused sounds which you may want to take a look at.

Cheers guys. I've finished a nice big wav for use in a command briefing or similar, hopefully it'll be hosted soon and you can listen to it and be... afraid (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/devil.gif)
