Title: EASD Nemesis
Post by: Woolie Wool on July 15, 2003, 11:14:21 pm
I made a quick table hack of the Sathanas to put the Nemesis in the game, but FS2 crashes every time I load a mission with a Nemesis in it. I have:

AMD Athlon XP 1600+
nVidia GeForce 2 MX
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer sound card
256 MB RAM
Windows 98 SE

I'm thinking it's because I did an extremely half-assed tabling job I did. I just changed supercap2s-01.pof to nemesis.pof and SJ Sathanas to EASD Nemesis and saved the file.

So why don't you try making a better table and seeing if it works?

I'm too lazy to retable that thing. I'll just wait for them to release the tables tomorrow.

Even with the proper table entry ripped from Inferno, the Nemesis crashes in T&T. But not in Inferno (I made a Nemesis test mission and it worked).

Here's why: my ships.tbl is TOO DAMN BIG. The Sathanas and Knossos don't work either.

On a distantly related note, is the Nemesis textured in a way that can allow you to put the ship's name somewhere on it? The Nemesis doesn't appear in Modelview because its polycount is too high, so I don't know.

yes it was originally designed for a nameplate.

It should open in modelview, it's only 2000 polys for lod0

It opens, but doesn't appear (it reads "no model file loaded") All I see are the polycount and dimensions of the model.

Would increasing my RAM from 256MB to 512MB help?

Anyway, what is the name of the nameplate texture?

extract the maps while you edit it.

the map list should be as follows:
ttile02
ttile07
ttile01
ttile10
ttile09
ttile07
ttile03
ttile03
ttile03
ttile07 -nameplate
ctile5
ttile07
dc03-01a
ttile06
lights
ttile09
HBeams

Replace the correct ttile07 with your own nameplate map.

Sounds easy enough.

The nameplate was scrapped when the maps where changed from Orion style to the current ones, but it shouldn't be too hard to make nameplates for the new maps.

Overwriting ttile07 doesn't work.
