Title: need help with a new hud...
Post by: vadar_1 on January 11, 2002, 09:42:00 pm
ok im having a slight problem here. Using radar1.ani's frames as a reference, i created a new radar, recompiled it to an ani, the same amount of frames, resolution, size, etc, i put it into /data/hud (filename radar1.ani obviously), reloaded fs2, and tried it out. The problem was, it didn't show up, and the old radar was still there. Is there a trick to this? tks

I personally haven't done anything in HUD adjustment - but if you find the creators of a campaign who have (The Babylon Project people made a whole new HUD). You could ask them and see if they can help.

Doesn't it have to be a certain color setting?

16 bit?

I have an .ani that just won't replace - after doing loads of breifing .anis - I had to make sure the first image pallet was suitable for the animation - i.e. no green (color image to grayscale) made my pics look terrible. I did my HUD a while ago so I forgot about anything special (or was never aware of it)
I tried to replace the lock .ani but it never did anything and stated with the original... same problem?

ya same problem law, i basically used the two frames in the old hud as a template for my new one, but logically, even if the ani was just a textfile, it should still attempt to replace the old radar, even if it dosn't work, there should be an error or something...

oops, apperently there are two res versions, the second one is called 2_radar.ani  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) but while am at it, could anyone answer me this? How do you change the minimum distance that you can aquire a lock of an aspect seeking secondary weapon? every other weapon in the table has +Weapon Range except for secondaries...

"lifetime" dosn't seem to have an effect on the active targeting range... if it was dumbfired it hit the target, but it wont lock on at its maxmimum range for some reason
