Title: Computer to TV
Post by: HotSnoJ on July 19, 2003, 07:43:24 pm
I recently bought some wires to setup my computer so I can watch DVD's and other stuff on my TV. So I set it up and well my desktop got all screwed up, just about every icon was moved. Well what I'm wondering is if there is a program that can send out a signal to the TV without screwing up my desktop. And it only has to play movies.

my radeon has output for both tv and moniter, if this is aplicable you should try it, don't do what I did and use the VT out as the primary display, the results arn't pretty

My GeForce3 has 3 output connections. VGA, S-Video, and something else, not sure what it is. Anyway I'm using the S-Video to go to the TV and the VGA is still connected to my monitor.

I'm fairly certain the nView software that comes with later versions of the nVidia Detonator drivers let's you simultaneously output to both a TV and Monitor but I wouldn't have the first clue on how to set that up...

Yes, a new vid card would work, if you're willing to pay the $. Even my old, outdated TNT2 M64 can output to the TV (It has an S-Video port).

He shouldn't need a new video card, his GF3 should be able to do the simultaneous monitor + TV thing just fine, all he needs is a version of the nVidia Detonator drivers that includes the nView applet (which is pretty much anything released in the last 12 months or so). Basically, you have to add the TV as a display device in nView and then extend the Windows desktop on to it.
