Freespace is my most favorite game of all time!
I dream of a day when a large group maybe even all of the FREDers, writers, animators, etc. come togeather to make a series of campaigns. The biggest Freespace project yet. Picture this, start off with a few (like 2 or 3) pilot campaigns each centered around a ship and its squads, all in the same Freespace
universe where the actions of each ship are relevant to each other, like playing a story at different points of views. And hopefully with the sheer number of people involved we can allow for people to get on with there lives and come back and still be productive so one doesn't get too bored of working on the same thing all the time. hehehe highly unlikely but with everyone on board we might be able to make high quality campaigns fully animated, voice acted, and maybe even cutscenes within months! What I see are alot of dead mods and some slowly trudging along... but imagine if everyone for all of those mods worked on a couple campaigns togeather... You'd learn so much, gain so much, and create so much because you don't have to worry about doing ALL this work with only a few people to help, you'd have an entire community helping... divided we fall, united we prosper! So that is my dream, maybe not the most original or new, but I hope that one day we can all make this come true if it is what you all agree on.

Well Toblerone, you may have noticed a about a so-called 'FreeSpace Upgrade'. This will supposedly be a community-wide project. To be honest, I think this will go the way of FreeSpace Forever. if it even gets that far.
Also, a word of advice, for future reference: when posting topics like this, don't ever mention making FreeSpace 3. You will disappear under a hail of flames :)

A) there was no part of my post that even remotely hinted about it being FS3 or even FS3 in general, I wouldn't even know what the timeset would be!

What happened to Paradigm Shift. I think it fit the description pretty well, but I don't know that it ever got off the ground...uhm, Icefire..status report?

What Diamondgeezer is trying to convey, is to save you from the hords, not that you did say anything about fs3 but that it would be in your best interest not to mention it at a later time, ever..
As for your dream, I like it and have though this myself.
Have you played the Inferno release, man they worked wonders with the new explosion ani`s they are sweet. Can`t wait to see what they do in the next release.

yeah i know the explosions were AWSOME! hahaha i was shooting this EA destroyer from behind and when it blew, its ass plowed right into me.... that really sucked!

the development title for Icefire's next campain was Paradigm Shift, but seeing as it is basicly dead (though we did intntionaly slowdown to get done with BWO) and this project has a similar goal, the desision was made to show these off here as potental new ships

An amazing dream, but FS3 will already be on the shelves of the shops before we can complete this so HUGE campaign.

i got a so called rumour possibly 90% true regarding fs3.
well, it's not called fs3 but the universe and nodemaps are all same. homelan who interviewed bungie for halo for pc said that they were in talks with nvidia for a next generation 3d game that included both the style in fs and halo, i.e. a space sim and an fps in the same game...
well, it's rumours to me, the last time i talked to volition they told me believe it or not that freespce is not popular and does not meet what people want , that's also the reason why they said that fs2 was open source and freely available...
by the way there was something about freespace fps, what happened to it, does any one know

IIRC the Freespace FPS was a mod for Red Faction. I don't know what became of it.
As for FS3, check the general section of my FAQ :)

Toblerone, Whitelight is quite correct - I thought I'd make a token attempt to stop you getting yourself flamed.
My point is that hundreds of people have made the exact same post as you in the past - 'lets make a huge community project' - and precisely nothing has happened. I'm just suggesting that you forget about it, it's not worth the arguments you'll get from the regulars around here :)

Well, I had the same dream before this thread had been made, but I daren't send it, because I was not so popular that time(that was at the times of my being newbie, when I was suffering with inserting pictures ;) ).
Now I think that's FACT, that everyone is engaged with his/her(Tiara, and perhaps some others who I don't know girls) own projects, take me for example, I am now active on two projects, and I also want to make levels for myself in Q3A, Starcraft, and to complete my dream, to make a complete story for JK2 with maps(I am not gonne make it, I know :()
I just want to say everybody is engaged with his/her own problems, and discussing about the campaign itself would be extremely difficult.
