...is a very good movie. Has anyone here at HLP seen it?
It's a sort of a sci-fi film about a future society where emotions are outlawed, and people are forced to take drugs to remove their ability to feel. I won't spoil more than that, but it's got an interesting story, and some very cool action scenes, especially when you remember how small budget they had.

I was going to see that film, my local cinema only shows Matrix:Reloaded and LOTR:Two Towers.

Gunkata kicks ass
-
Saw it ages ago, me and my girlfriend both thought it was great.
-
Aside from the fact that it rips off every piece of Sci-fi literature and movies written in the last 50 years or so, from 1984 to the Matrix, it rocks.
Christian Bale = ub3rl33+
-
Oh, well, yes, less than 5% of the material is original in any way shape or form, but as long as you don't let that distract you... after all, the fighting puts the Matrix to shame

yay! I'm not alone! only a few other people I know have seen equilibrium :(
equilibrium = pie; pie = good
i love the whole smacking around of the two shotguns and capping those two dudes in the face when they find the dog in his trunk :D
"no!" "****!!!" *BLAAAM*... "what??"

UBER-BUMPAGE! (Hey, it was either bumpage or new-threadage :p)
;) Just saw this movie - very cool. Reminded me of a cross between Minority Report, Matrix, and any Steven Segal movie.
Course I've never seen 1984; my dad said it reminded him of Soylent Green, yet another movie I never saw.

Do you know someone with acces to TCN? It goes after Cartoon Network on this part of the globe and they show all kinds of old, but good movies.

Twas good indeed, but have to say I cant help but think "Metropolis with guns" anymore.
-
Okay, I will rent tonight then. One question though, it is there any nudity or excessive foul language?

I believe there is "some" but certainly not excessive. Merely as much as needed and that wasn't much in this film. Another plus in my book.
"Use as much as you need but never more."

No nudity, foul language I don't recall any whatsoever. Lemme check.
Bah, there's no entry at kidsinmind.com. It has an R rating for violence. Nothing about anything else is mentioned.

Cool

Soylent Green and 1984 are two movies (and stories) that must be experienced by ANYONE who gives a damn about government, politics, corporations or society.
-
I heard so many good things about Equilibrium that I rented it a few months back.

It ain't that great. Though I can see why the "oooh, guns!"-level crowd would be satisfied with it, to me it's just a louder, sillier version of THX-1138.
-
I really liked Equilibrium. Everything just seemed to work well in the movie, and some of those action sequences were just amazing.
Cheers!

I can't even find Citizen Kane on DVD, so what'd make you think I'd find 1984? impossible, I'd say. at least I have soylent green, but haven't had the time to watch it. I'm no fan of charlton heston, which could be why I haven't taken the time.

Mmmm, those anti-Utopian stories make some great statements - the books are written brilliantly. As for Equilibrium, looks like I have to take a trip to the rental store soon. :)
