I remember reading somewhere that the divx support has been implemented into the SCP.exe . And here is my question: is there a way to activate it?

Best Regards Tolwyn

Sorta.

The movie playing code will use whatever codecs you have installed to play them.

I'm not sure, haven't been Fredding with the recent SCP builds in a while, but I think you refrence the movie just like you would a :v: clip.  Just provide the file in the right place.

from the FS2_open 3.6 readme

Quote
• Movie Support
Anyone who's used the Campaign Editor will have noticed the field for a "Briefing cutscene". Just enter the filename
of the movie, and it should play right before the Command Briefing .Movie support needs to be enabled with the "-dshowvid"
command line option. Otherwise, movies will be skipped when they're set to play.
