Now, there are a few weird things about this.  First of all, how did they come up with the idea that that was my website?  I'm not terribly visible over there -  I only have 88 posts.  But more importantly, how did they get my email address?  I've been very careful to hide it in my profile and not publish it in any posts, so if they hacked the PHP database, someone needs to know about it.

Don't worry no one is creeping you out intentionally. These things are entirely automated and basically go through site-logs. My guess, they somehow accidently misplaced your e-mail address for one of theirs. Or perhaps everyone got one? Or maybe VW have somekind of safeguard to stop getting these e-mails themselves? Anyhow, I get the same things all the time. The patrol systems can usually be traced by looking at your weblogs.

Okay, but how did they get my email address?  It's not published anywhere, and it's not stored online except in my profile.

Outlook express displays the content of the message in a box when you click it or right click the email, so usually you end up seeing it before you delete it.

You know you should turn that off... great way to catch viruses.
