Title: TV Tuner Cards
Post by: Liberator on July 26, 2003, 10:25:18 pm
Does anyone have a TV Tuner Card they like?

I'm moving away to continue my education and I don't have room for my computer and television.

Pretty much any old Hauppauge card (the WinTV series) will work just fine. I've been using one for ages now with Win2k, and its smooth like butter.

Thank's!

I didn't know what a good brand for such a thing was, now I know what to shop for.

Anything with a Brooktree/Conexant Bt875 (I think that's the one) chip on it would be a good buy. The Brooktree chips have the widest OS support, even Linux supports 'em.

If you have the money the best thing to do is to buy an All In Wonder Radion because they come with really great video cards.  If you go out and buy a regular video card you might have some problems with compatibility.  I best recommend http://www.pricewatch.com/ they have some of the best prices I have ever seen for all your computer needs.  Good luck and be careful with what you buy and make sure it's compatible;) :) :) :)

but maybe one of the most economical(features/reliability) and easy ones to use are the usb ones from pinnacle: it has 3 rca plugs, s-video input and colax(cable). about 169 i think. they were reviewed at toms hardware(www.tomshardware.com). pinnacle also makes decent proffessional quality cards also for more intensive video editing.

Tomshardware is a good site too but I haven't heard too many good things about Pinnacle I would stick to ATI the tv tuner that I have was only $50 and is a usb.  It doesn't any sort of RCA hook ups but I bet ATI does have some that thave them.
