Hello,
I'm looking for step by step help in shielding any non-fighter ship.
Thanks.

You need to add a "shield" subobject to the model (has to be done in a modelling program).
The object has to be made entirely of triangles, and must not have any holes. However, capships with shields have the bad habit to be a little bit unstable.

I'm really bad with modeling programs...
isn't there another way to to di?
-
nope

Yes there is. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
In Modelview, import shields from an existing model, then resize them until they fit the ship. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
