One thing that I am really looking forward too is Half Life two. I can't even wait for it to come out since it's planned release date in December. It was also interesting how they kept it a secret for so long.
-
badly named topic title, buuuut....
I. can. not. wait. for. Homeworld 2! And right after that, I'm getting the Hegemonia expansion! Yea, baby, yea! :D
-
*still can't beleive they are amking another tribes :blah:
And on that note, you forgot World of Warcraft :p
-
Star Wars Galaxies is looking good so far.
One of the members at another forum I visit is currently beta-testing the game.
-
Out of those, Thief 3. The one I really want though is Deus Ex 2.
-
I can't wait for all those games to come out but those are my top four that I am the most excited about.
-
I've never played Homeworld before So i dont know what to expect from HW2
I've never played Tribes either, so i wont be expecting anything from that either
I played thief 2 so might look forward to that coming out.
I was addicted to Half Life so you can sure as hell bet i'm waiting for HL2!!!
-
So this poll is basically useless.
-
Just like you post. As usual..
Hmm, I never "got" why Halflife is so great. That said, I'm still looking forward to HL2. And Doom3, if I have the hardware to un it. Deus Ex 2 looks intruiging, though the graphics look kinda...well not up to the highest level, but pretty close
As for Homeworld2. Well, is it just me or have the graphics not improved that much. I expected the graphics to be as amazing today as the original's were back when it was released. The textures look a bit low res. However, I'm still looking forward to playing it, it should be good.
Max Payne 2, Rome: Total War and a bunch of other are on the list too
Funny, no ones mentioned F_______e 3
:nervous: :nervous:
What, what're you all looking at me for. I didn't say anything.
-
Well with Half Life 2 the Graphics have improved drastically but the largest advancement that they made was in the physics engine. As far as the other games they have improved drastically but Half Life 2 has made the largest advancements than all the other games.

My posts serve the valuable function of annoying the easily annoyed. It's part of the master plan to breed out the "easily annoyed" gene by driving those with it to early stress-related heart attacks.

out of those options I'm waiting Thief3 the most, but HL2 comes right behind it

And Doom 3? Compare Doom 2 and Doom 3, and Half-life and HL2. I like both, but if the word is about advancements ... D3 is about to take the palm away from our sight of view, and we won't see it again unless we have both HL2 and Doom 3 in our hands, or if not in our hands, onto our computer, and the CDs in the CD-ROM. :)
-
I'm waiting for HL2, HW2, LO:MAC, and Soldner. What else am I missing?
-
Yeah, I've gotta a couple, but they've already been mentioned here:
1) Half Life 2
2) Deus Ex 2
And anyone who has seen the 650MB E3 video for HL2 will have no doubts... I still watch it over and over again amazed.

you speakth the truth..

Of the listed it's HL2 all the way.
I'll keep an eye out for DX2, though. Never really got into Thief, but I liked the use of 3d audio.

same here.
-
Yeah I figured it would have been a basic game at first with a few upgrades but after watching that 26 minute E3 video on the physics engine of Half Life 2 I was blown out of my seat.
-
All of 'em except Tribes.
-
Well Tribes 3 is supposed to be highly anticipated as well since they are using a new type of bump map surfacing or something like that which is really supposed to be something really new. The idea was also used in Half Life 2 but they might take it a step further.
-
I'd say probably Half Life 2 (think Doom 3 looks like it'll be a bit samey.... constant dull and dark environments aren;t my thing), but in all honesty i'm more interested in the next Pro Evolution and GTA games on the Ps2.
-
What about Doom 3? Nobody has seen the trailer?
I rather prefer Doom 3, because Id's shooters impressed me better than HL. Half-Life had a good story, but the difficulty was a bit exegenerated.
-
Incase anyone is interested, the Lionheart demo has just come out.
The best link right now is Worthplaying (http://files.worthplaying.com/files/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=39) (Mirror 1) since most of the other places are either overcrowded or slow. I'm getting over 200kb/s on the first WP mirror (the second one links to Filefront, and its 100% busy)
Lionheart is an alternate history RPG made by Reflexive and produced by Black Isle. It basically takes 14th century Europe and adds magical elements via a powerful magical event that happened several centuries earlier during the Crusades, called the Disjunction. AFAIK it uses a rule system similar to Fallout.
Just doing my part:thepimp: :thepimp:

In other words... Half-Life is harder than most Id shooters?
This statement is so far off into bizarro land that I don't even know how to respond.

Doesn't that pretty much describe all generic fantasy RPGs?

w00t, if it has bump mapping, it sure is to be anticipated ( sorry, was an easy one ;) )

I tried the Doom 3 alpha and it seemed pretty good, the dull and dark environments actually created quite an eerie atmosphere when I played it and the game was quite scary on the whole for me. If it could keep that up all the way through I think Doom 3 might be as special as HL2. Not that I'm not looking forward to that. I'm keeping a personal blackout on HL2 information in the hope that it's going to completely floor me with how good it is.
-
I've already ordered HW2, so I guess that answers that...
-
Tribes 2 was merely OK. All the teamwork that they bragged about simply wasn't there :(
-
Half Life 2 - I had the pleasure of being in HL and every singleplayer expansion pack. It was pretty cool. Well... Not on this computer. Maybe with a newer one...
Tribes 2 - Never really got into multiplayer...
Thief 3 - I had the pleasure of beating Constantine's demonic butt in "The Dark Project", but never had the pleasure of entering the world of Thief 2 [Still can't find it.].
Homeworld 2 - Oh yeah!

So true... the physics they can simulate now is mind-boggling.

All the way. At least as I experienced. Especially that shameful Opposing Force with those plasma shooter spiders and the boss.
I never knew I suffered that much with Quake 1, Quake 2, or any of the Dooms, altough I don't have Castle Wolfenstein, which is probably not an easy one.
-
Welll Doom 3 is also supposed to be really neat as well but it just has somewhat better graphics thats about it. They should have released it earlier because we are all looking more forward to games with better graphics.:nervous:

HL and RTCW are about same difficulty level ( mmh, but I never had as much as a tough time in HL as the momen,t when you fight your first ubber soldat in Wolf Castle, tho ).
-
Mmmmm... I'm waiting for Tron 2.0!!! I guess you can call it a the official sequel! The first movie was basically about going into the computer and playing games, so its logical to assume that the sequel would be a game itself! :D
-
Doom 3 will kill them all.
EDIT: ID shooters easy? Have you fought Xaero on Nightmare or the Uber Soldat on I am Death Incarnate? ID shooters are very hard.

Methinks the tone of his post was not entirely serious? (!)

Why do people keep bringing up Freespace 3? People must give up on that I meen people are getting furious about it inculding me.
-
Now they're saying HL2 is a "holiday 2003" title. I hope that's just Vivendi passing gas.

I haven't included Q3. Only ones which have single player mode, has a story etc.
Q3 single player is the same as it would be in Multiplayer, just not with or against human players, against bots.
Otherwise fighting against Xaero on Nightmare or Hardcore is not hard .... it's impossible

if people get furious over that, they are too easily annoyed.
-
I know what a sensitive topic FS3 is, I was just kidding. No harm intended....but seriously, when is it comming out?
Anyways, about the HalfLife 2 delay. I don't believe it until I hear it from Valve. Just yesterday, answering a forum Q and A, Gabe Newell (Valve prez) said that he has heard nothing about the delays.
You can find the whole thing on either Bluesnews (check the comments section for the HL2 delay topic) or on Shacknews.

I have a bot that's even harder than Xaero, if you're a glutton for punishment.
-
I hope Black Isles, codenamed project "Van buren" is Fallout 3.

What kind of punishment? Being dead? :)
Which is that bot?

Well it's been anounced Half Life 2 has been delayed another couple of months :hopping: :hopping: :hopping: :hopping:

well, you have that, or you have HL2 not delayed, uncomplete. pick an option
-
I'm the apparent heretic here, since I've not even played the original Half-Life, so I'm not hardly as worked up about its sequel as everyone else.
So, for me, Homeworld 2 is the chief attraction, followed by Deus Ex 2.
Homeworld 2, simply because it's supposed to have good mod support this time around...
Deus Ex 2, because I want to find out what happened to me :p
-
And what about Doom 3?

you're right, HL2 isn't overhyped at all.

Care to back up your opinion on Halo sucking?
-
If it sucked, then explain to me why its so damn popular? MS wouldnt even bother having it ported to the PC if it wasnt worthwhile....

and your reasoning for that is? i would really like to know how a game that sucked sold WAY over a million copies and got the "Game of The Year" for best game....
you probably suck at it or you don't own a Xbox...

Or both. I loved Halo and it's still my multiplayer game of choice. I've heard people talk about how unbalanced the game is when you have tanks in multi but that's bollocks too because that game is finely tuned. Circle strafe a tank in a ghost while constantly firing and the plasma rounds slow the turret movement which unless they get out the tank pretty quick equals an easy kill. I've heard people say the game sucks when they've played maybe a third of a level on easy. To get the most out of it you have to play it all the way through on legendary because it's incredible. Each battle is unique and so brilliantly fun, there really isn't anything quite like it.
I'll admit it, I'm a Bungie/Halo fanboy but I don't really care. :)
