Wanted to see how many more people would click a thread with a name like that.
Supercarrier, basically a smallish-to-medium spaceborne city. This is something like the fourth go at it (second real model), because it always takes me about a month to realize how crap it is and fix it up some. And each time it gets bigger- this 'uns more than a kilometer long, houses 200+ fighters (each of which take up around twice as much space as, say, an FS interceptor), and in the end is gonna have the detailing to match- all the real modeling is done but it's not even close to finished, the rest is gonna have to wait until I have another gig of RAM and a better processor to assemble and render, 'cos it's that big.

I figured it would be something like this.....yet I clicked anyway... do I lose? Now that I look at it... I realise I cant see a goddamn thing on this monitor....
All I can see is a few dark shapes....
-
You see that brightness button below the screen? Yeah, press the one with the up arrow. It's space, it's not supposed to be blown-out white.
You know, I think I'm gonna name all my thread this, and one day, at random, it's actually gonna be guy porn. Show you losers right for clicking any old link you see.

three red x's.

See.. I actually know what all those buttons do, unlike most of the goons on the internet.. that was the first thing I tried... its this thing not your pics...
-
Interesting design. It might actually be what the thread title called it...
-
Oooo, shiny bits!! (Almost makes up for the lack of male-oriented filth....:sigh::D:nervous: )
Pretty cool, this - some more angles would be good, 'cos you can't see much detail on the front or of the engines from these pics.
Me likes!:nod::yes:
BTW, what are those big round thingies on the top?
-
nice work with the girders:yes:
-
I didn't click the link.
-
No. I willed you in here.;7
-
It's got dual bridges. They also double as quarters and **** for all the pilots this thing needs.
Oh, you can't see the engines 'cos I'm not even sure they're there. Haven't looked back there recently.;)
You can't see any detail on the front because there simply isn't any. It's a big hole- the whole front part is a giant fighterbay tube, and, like I said, I don't have enough computer to do more than one bit of the fighterbay at a time.
Thorn: Yeah, just kidding. **** monitors are nothing new here.
-
interesting, but the few cables on the top of the ship makes it look small.

*Looks at shape of ship... sees round things at top.. thinks of thread title... laughs and runs away
Sorry but that just set it up too well XD. :P

Stryke, try to at least make the effort to make things family friendly, mmkay? You're out in public, not the locker room. I realize it takes all your brain cells to act mature, but at least keep the thread titles in good taste.
-
This from the person who finds a pink title saying "Village Person" witty?
-
"Village person" is not offensive.
I think there's a subtle difference. Learn it please.
-
And human sexuality is? Oh, grow up. "Aiee! People have PENISES? How icky icky gross eww!"
No. If I posted up those pictures the government keeps flashing around of Uday and Qusay with their brains half falling out, there might be grounds to call it "offensive". A textual mention of an organ all of us who aren't admins or chicks have is not "offensive" in any way, shape, or form, unless someone present is a rape victim or summat and the reference calls up memories better left repressed. However, that is not the case, and as of last count there was only one chick here, even- and the rest of the dickless wonders here don't have feelings, either, so that's not an issue. Quit pretending there's something to protect the public morality from and start leaning on the campaigns to do work again or something actually useful. Hell, I have to look at my own massive Wand of Joy all the time- in full 3D and color, no less- and you don't see me creaming my pants every time I get down or take a piss.
Christ, if I was this lazy and irrelevant I would have gotten kicked from every last one of the projects within a week.
Venom: Yeah... what if I took down the diameter a and doubled up on them?
-
lol, I thought the title said "Huge ship pictures, not work safe"
:D
Anyways, interesting design, but I don't think I'll ever get used to the bland look of that rendering program you use. Looks to basic. The ships aren't, but the lighting + stuffi sn't very pretty.

Feel free to wire me $5000 any time so I can pay for MAX.
I can actually do soft shadows, but the one time I tried it took fuckin' ages to render, so I avoid 'em. Other than that, next to no real particle effects or anything, limited light effects I can't really control (lotsa stuff doesn't work on modern systems, I guess), etc. so... yeah. That's basically what you're paying for in the fancier packages. If I don't mind the models getting a little messed up, I can give 'em radiosity and particle effects in another prog, but the "little messed up" goes a long way.
Also, the procedural texture generators on this thing are absolutely insane. Far, far better than MAX's, and for non-organic functions usually better than Lightwave's, too. Procedurals look a lot better than texture maps, so I prefer them.
But I'm working on learning to use a ripped copy of Lightwave. It's really, really slow, and I'm really, really, bad at it, but some day, maybe I'll be able to use it.

True, there's nothing *really* offensive here, but you could try growing up for a change and leaving dicks, penises or any other references to swear words, genetalia etc. out of whatever topics you start. What relevance do they have to this topic? None at all! But you either A) find it funny or B) are doing it because you're trying to be an idiot for some reason best only known to yourself...
All in all, just be (or pretend to be) a human with a brain that has developed beyond the stage of a 13 year olds. There's no need for any reference to toilet humor here, so don't put it in. It's not a lot to ask and while it's a source of amusement for me to see you try and defend yourself against our requests, it's still rather sad and pathetic all the same. It's easier all around if you stop and attempt to rejoin the rest of the people who can at least act like they're older than 16, even if they aren't. Get it?

I want comments, other than it's strange, and ugly!

I'll second Thunder on this one, even if I don't usually agree with him.
More on topic, the ship rocks I'd kinda kill the 'pod' look of the bridges, and definately narrow those cables down some, and add more. Otherwise, its pretty damn good. Easily your best work.
-
Thunder: Notice how this thread has had easily twice the views and comments of my average modeling thread? I doubt rumor is passing around about my new toy out of dozens of new toys, and if there's anything that pisses me off it's that I never can get proper feedback on anything I model, anywhere, so I never know what I'm doing wrong or right. It seems I know the people here a bit better than you do...;)
Mik: And do what, though? It's basically just a tube without 'em, and I think Shrike's already cornered the "take an extruded hexagon and detail it" market here.

The back- nope, I guess I didn't do proper engines. Have to, uh, do that sometime.

I can't actually remember the last time you posted a topic with a "normal" title. So I guess you'll never know. It could just be that you made a good model and people have a lot to say about it, but since you have such a penchant for immaturity - you'll never know wether the title had squat to do about it. Either way, stop. Or others will make you stop. Your call :)

Venom: Look up.:p
-
The smaller pipes look great.
The rounded pods don't fit in with the overall design, I think. I'd build them into the hull a bit more. Greebles across the blank bits would help break it up and provide a sense of scale.

that's better, but a full view to see the general feeling would be welcome.
As for Mike's comment about the rounded bridges, I... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, NOT AGAIN!!!!!
rah, shit, but I tend to agree.
If I can make a design suggestion, look in the inferno forum, for the last cruiser I made for them. I couldn't remember the name to save my life tho :doubt:.
well, if you can find it, look at its bridge, I think it would fit well your ship, with the appropriate adjustements, of course.
and now, as I'm just back from work, and I stink hot rubber ( nothing sexual here :doubt: ), I'm off to take a shower.
Isn't that great?
-
Can't find. It may be one of the many broken links.
Er... have fun with that whole shower thing. Or something.
-
Fun in the shower requires 2... ;)
