Hey all Inferno users, some good tips for you people on a 56k modem...and want to download the big file...
First of all, to the creators of Inferno, great JOB!!! When I first started out the first mission, I was like, Holy SH*T, COOOOOL!!!!:)
Anyway, for you people with 56k modems, wanting to download the big file,
1) DON'T!!! Get the little VP files instead!!!
2) GET A DOWNLOAD MANAGER!! Even though I have DSL, I still use my download manager, GetRight. It works great, pause downloade and never corrupts files or anything.
Personally, I'm getting a little tired of reading the messages that people on a 56k can't download the big file.

GetRight DOES occasionally corrupt files on 56K. I haven't used a download manager in years but I remember NetVampire (http://www.netvampire.com) was the most reliable of those I tried. Dunno what it's like these days but GetRight has always sucked monkey balls.

Well I'm on 56k. Just left the big file downloading overnight. Simple.

You'd be surprised how many complaints I get from 56kers trying to download the large version. I ignore such complaints as its their own fault for downloading that version when a more 56ker friendly version is avaliable.
If your connection can't handle it, get the multi VP version, simple as that.

I grabbed the Single VP version, over 56 k, with Getright over two nights from Fileplanet, and it was more than worth it. People whinge too much about the download.
-
single vp version in 12 minutes. :p
the FP line was longer than that

GetRight is a good manager, because in about 3-4 nights i was able to download it without a hitch. BTW, Inferno is awesome, I just can't get past the second level...:nervous:
