We're considering using the new features that the Source Code Project has put in. However, we first need to know how many people have severe problems with it.
If you do have problems with the SCP build (get the latest release from Phreak's siggy) please post them here.
Sid.

No probs here :D
-
remember if there are problems or it doesn't work, please tell us so we can fix it.
-
I haven't yet managed to crash the latest release. FRED a couple of times, but not the FS2 exe. Seems as stable to me as the unmodified FS2.
-
I've been getting crashes in the inferno scp build(this is the first SCP build i've ever tried). I crashed in mission both times i tried it, and once when clicking on the mission simulator button in the tech room. The glow maps did look great though.

Does it have anything to do with OpenGl(Cloaking, etc)?. I can't seem to get OpenGl to work on FS2. Probaly my computer config.
Intel Celeron 1.7GHZ
Intel 82845G 64mb(No, i never did get that replacement)
DirectX9
Besides that issue, SCP builds are working perfectly so far...
-
thats an integrated videocard, and an Intel one at that
i've never heard of those working all that well :doubt:
Intel cards have ****ty OGL support anyways
-
Fred2_Open works fine, but FS2_Open doesn't...
Think it's my comp though.
And where can I get the registry texture fix?
-
I voted for "they don't work at all" because every 10 minutes or so, the game crashes. It's pointless to even boot up the program
-
Heh you got that right, the only game I got OpenGl to work on with acceptable FPS was Half-Life...
OK i'm a bit scared now...(Cries at the thought of not being able to play release two):sigh:
-
Uhh, have you tried Direct3D? OpenGL isn't required to run Inferno when using the SCP builds. Indeed, in the newest build D3D has all the graphical features OGL has. Just try setting D3D8 in the launcher included with Phreak's latest package (it's in his sig).
Sid.

Thats a relief...Yeah i've been using D3D8 from Phreak's launcher all along now. Runs with no problems at all. Guess i'm ok... :)
-
No problems here.
You haven't played Inferno until you've seen the Astarte with glowmaps.:D
-
I don't get crashes unless I call for a dockship on my newest model, but that's bad PATH data...
The only complaint I have is d3d8 doesn't wanna work with 1024x768 32-bit, and in 16-bit mode, the text has stray box lines around parts of it.
600 Duron
384 Ram
GeForce 2 MX400 vid card...
OGL is better, but the boxes are still there...

The SCP works fine with Inferno for me.
Except for any missions which have the Sol Gate station in them.
For whatever reason those crash always.
-
The sol gate is covered with glowmaps, that may be why.
-
The Inferno build of the SCP gives me no more problems than the original Freespace.
-
I just tried the latest build recently, and now I can't even get past the login screen :(
-
Make sure you make a new pilot for it.
-
After further testing i've found that the game will crash very single time for me after a few minutes of plat, no matter if i use OpenGL or D3D8, and no matter what settings i try in the launcher.
I forgot to mention i've only tried FS2 open with mods.
-
So I stick with the original 3.1 DTP release (Hence all the screens I post have that posted in the upper corner.
I can play FS2 with open source but as yet haven't successfully gotten any mod to run.
-
Haven't tried glowmaps and cloaking, but specularity maps work on my comp (with a little tweeking ofcourse)
A slightly OT question. Sid, you had links to several websites in your sig. No they're gone. They were really quite good, I'm just wondering if they were made by you, and if you still have the links handy
-
Everything runs fine except for the SOL Gate missions.

Even on my fast system, the Sol Gate missions are slow with glowmaps, but they sure look cool.

No, I didn't design them myself, but I did help with the server-side admin work. However, I have since resigned because my friend who owns the servers was negligent and allowed the business to go to hell. We could've made $$$ from hosting halflife2.net yet the opportunity was squandered when our box with their site on was 'accidentally' wiped. The sites are re4lity.net, sp4ce.net, g4mer.net and sp4rk.net, although there's all of nothing on each of them these days.

Apart from one buggy release (original 3.5 I think) I've never had any problems whatsoever with the SCP. It's even more stable than the unmodified one (bug so that it can't be minimized. Comes in handy:D )

Promising results so far, keep voting and describing your problems (if any) people...
