Title: Dilemma - Two Types of Motherboards
Post by: Rampage on August 09, 2003, 04:10:38 pm
Type 1:

Note the Audio ports and the USB ports below the parallel and the serial ports.  This seems to be the popular type of board.

Type 2:

This isn't as common as type 1.

This case seems to advocate motherboard type 2, not type 1.

My question is, "Can one fit motherboard type 1 into that case without the obstruction of ports fitting in their respective places?  If not, then is there a case that will support motherboard type 1?"

Almost all motherboards come with their own panel to accomodate the ports in the back of their board, so I wouldn't sweat that at all...

Second of all, are you sure you want to buy an AOpen board? Just curious...

Oh and holy crap, look at the location of the floppy connection on the first mobo... yikes... I do, however like to connection for the ATX power... wish more boards could accomodate the connection there....

it looks like the lower conections are were the problem is, so you could just get out the old dremel and make you're own hole.

All good motherboard companies should give you a backpanel. And go for the Abit or the Epox :p

I used to have an Aopen AX6BC and couldn't fault it in over 3 years of service. Had AOpen had their nForce2 board (or any board for that matter) out here in Australia and in the configuration I wanted I would have bought it in a heartbeat.

I'm probably going to end up getting a descendent of that board in about 2 years. When I go off to college I'm getting 2k to build a computer with. The possibilities.....
