Wing Commander Saga: Battlegroup Serpent has released a four minute trailer for their upcoming Freespace 2 mod. It's a pretty exciting look into the basics of the story with some very nice in-game shots. If you haven't been following this one, the trailer might surprise you. You can download their 33 meg trailer here (BL.org mirror here). You need divx to see it.

Ok, it looks good, but that synthezised voice is UNBEARABLE to listen to :D :p
EDIT: also, some of that usage of the old voices from the main FS2 game also seem out of place.
EDIT2: In-game footage looks VERY nice. However, I'd suggest using Bob's new specular lighting exe, once he gets all the bugs worked out, for your final release. It makes a world of difference in-game.

first: I don't use any synthesized voices
second: comms are used as a background
-
Ya, the narrator is synthezised.
EDIT: And, in the beginning, you used comms as voices of the fighters.

that is not true... it is just a manner of speaking

It's been filtered and compressed by the sounds of it, perhaps to detract from a voice that doesn't have the right kind of edge? ;)
Trailer is nice, great renders and such, but the FS2 voices are easily heard. You should really make them quieter, with some radio-static and other noises mixed in.

like a robot?
Check for yourself, it's synthezised.

Looks great

hmm... perhaps it is useful sometimes to switch on your brain? Or do you think I use Windows XP voice tool to create that voice, hmm?
-
Actually, yea, I do think you used the Windows XP tool to make that voice.
-
The "War is our only option" part is NOT sythnezised, but as soon as it says "We have always..." it's snthezised. If it's not, then you seriously need to get a better voice-actor :p
-
is it a suggestion?
-
I'm just saaaaaaying that that guy sounds like a robot.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed the video, and thought that using in-game voices worked really well.
As for the voice-over, I think you might ave pitch-shifted it down a notch or two. Try shifting it up just one semitone, it sounds good enough to me as it is to be honest, but that little tweak might help :)
Flipside.

and what I want to say is that only this recording sounds like that... it was supposed to be so...almost
EDIT: thank you Flipside... one thing to mention: this render scenes are from the intro I am working on right now
-
Yep kudos to him

Ok, it sounds less sythenzised once I run it thru DivX, but it still sounds like whoever recorded it had a frog in their throat.
