Title: Warp-Effect
Post by: comICEMAN on August 11, 2003, 03:21:01 pm
I have a problem again.
When i warp out the mission i dont like the animation.
i want to change the model of the warp-hole a bit and the camera position during the animation.

Which program are you using? The [V] fs2, or fs2_open? And if FS2_open, you don't like the 3d, or 2d effect?

I use fs2_open. I like it but one thing is what i want to change:
When you press ALT+J (or whatever is configured) the animation starts exact the same but when the camera goes out of the ship, it should want a time and then go behind the ship, and then throught the gate too. so it looks the camera or the player goes with his ship throught the warp and not only the ship.

Nah. The inside of the warp effect probably looks like complete ass up close.

That doesn't help me much...

To change the camera angle, switch to third-person view and look at your ship from the desired angle, then warp out.

To change the effects, you can get TBP, which, although is a sickeningly huge download, does have some AWESOME warp effects and sounds.:D

I always thought the warp hole in babylon5 looked crap, personaly ( no offense to the TBP guys, I mean the warp in the show. plus it's blue and leads to a red thinguy? makes little sense to me :doubt: ).

How do you make warp effects anyway? Okay it's an ani, but the effects........

How many variations of the 'tunnel/vortex' thing can be done anyway??

No, no, you don't understand me, I have nothing against the one in the campaign, it's true to the show. The pb is, the one in the show sux.

That won't work for him. What he wants is the camera animation changed, so that after your ship goes through the wormhole the camera does too. Since the warp anim won't look good up close, methinks the screen could flash white (like Half-life) when the camera enters the wormhole.

It isn't possible, atm, without changing source code.

You want to try making a S:AAB conversion. Lowest poly motherships ever, leaving me taking stick from the likes of Razor...

yes, but even if the effect in the show sucks the model I made just makes it an order of magnatude worse, I should make another one with more polys

Well they're Art Direction was a little wierd.  I like the gate concept, but the wormwhole effect was cheese.  Too bad they didn't use they're Amiga 4000's better.
