but I'm having trouble finding a decent paint-like program, for free. So, here I am, wearing an asbestos suit, in anticipation of the flames I'm about to receive, asking you if you know a good program. I tried the GIMP but hated it and I will go back to it if there are no alternatives. I have a limited version of Photoshop, but it only has one undo level! I'm not perfect so I need undo levels. Can you help me out?
-
-- meh, I ain't lookin' for trouble this morning --
-
:wtf: do you know this from experience?
-
What? Why are you looking at me?
-
don't worry I'm not with the feds or anything :p
So, do you know any good paint programs that aren't the GIMP?
EDIT: and that are free
-
Oh good, because that was the first thing I was thinking of...
and if you don't know of Aazak, then neither do I. :nervous:
-
Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to suggest that you download a copy of Paint Shop Pro or Photshop from Kazaa. It's very naughty and the admins get cross, so don't do it. If you see what I mean.
-
MSPaint :D
-
BRIGHT.

Damn, and I dished out $80 bucks for it at Best Buy (better than the $100 on the site though :D)
-
what version of Paintshop is it? 8.0 the latest one? and did you get it from the Jasc website?
-
Also, try magazines like Computer Art and the like, they very often give away freebie art programs.
Flipside :D
-
I don't get art magazines. I just want to make and edit textures, not draw pictures.
-
LOL Fair enough, you asked for suggestions, I gave one :)
Flipside.
P.S. By art programs I mean old versions of Photoshop etc.
-
you're right, you're right, I'm just getting what I asked for :blah:
-
Try here, I'm honestly not trying to be sarcastic at you, it was a genuine suggestion. Computer Arts magazine make some of their freebies available as downloads, I'm not sure how good they are, but it is worth a try :)
Computer Arts Magazine (http://www.computerarts.co.uk/downloads/default.asp?subsectionid=851&subsubsectionid=767)
Flipside :)
Oh yes, one thing, at least from where I am accessing it, it's not the fastest web page in the world, don't know why :)
-
don't worry, no hard feelings, suggestions are always appreciated:D
-
PC Gamer magazine usually has a trial version of PSP on the discs - dunno about this month, but it's worth a look.:)
-
Most good paint programs aren't cheap or easily available. Unless your a university or college student...stuff like Photoshop 7.0 is only about $350 Cdn. And if you factor in the cost of books that I usually pay each year, its cheap because I only need to buy it once (and it'll serve my purposes for many classes to come).
-
Heck, Photoshop will serve most purposes for anyone ever who had an interest in a graphics editing program. If you can find a copy - it's second to none.
-
and Photoshop's demo (if i remember right) is fully functioning for a limited time
-
Then it stops - completely and permanently - when you're right in the middle of something... :hopping:
-
...that is unless you ***** the ******* with something from one of those sites...
-
Well, yes.... 'cept things didn't live up to the hype, shall we say.... :doubt:
-
Some work, some don't... 'sall I'll say...
Now if only I could get Winblows to recognize my 2nd HDD...
-
Horribly obvious, but jumpers?
But you already knew that, so I'll shut up. :)
-
well I got a trial version of Paint Shop Pro 8, I guess I'll delete it as soon as the feds bust down my door... If they can ever find my door. I like Photoshop better than PSP but what can you do with only one undo level. And, yes I did check the preferences, and help etc..., that's what the 'Limited' in Limited Edition means.
-
PSP's cheap anyway - 'bout £75, if I remember rightly. Seems almost reasonable compared to Photoshop...
-
And you can always look for the older versions for cheap. I have Photoshop Elements 2.0, which was about $135ish in Canadian dollars. Has everything I could ever need.
