I'm thinking that when fighting certain groups or species, the music should vary depending on the species. This is meant as a guide to modders.
Terrans get brassy, militaristic music. A good example is Star Wars stuff or the "2R" music files from the Inferno core VP.
Vasudans get moody, more ethereal (is that the right word?) music. Really hard to explain. Just listen to m5_nrml1 in the Descent: FreeSpace music and use that as a guide.
Shivans get spooky, scary music.
Ancients get rock/techno. The "Hidden" battle music from the Gigas mission in Inferno is an excellent example.

Nice idea and i think its not to hard to change only some change in the code for the music.tbl

Shouldn't this be in the SCP forum?

Why? Just use the music tables, FRED and the sound playing SEXP's properly and you can do this already.
-
Well, I was having difficulties putting more than 9 musics into the music.tbl, this thing would need at least 16 musics, four for each species. Do a lot of musics, concept them, put them into the table, and tell FRED to use one of the right sounding musics in the mission you are flying for the species that music is for.

I was thinking he wanted it more automatically (read less work) but I suppose you could. I've never actualy looked at the Music tables anyways. :p

It would be less work for the tabler or the mission maker, but I don't think this is one thing the SCP guys are to be called.
They would say the same thing like at my 'Mission ends in hangar'. Do it with SEXPs, or in this case, hack the tables, and set the correct music to the mission. Ready.
Sorry if I misunderstood something in advance. :)

Don't tell me, I'm just guessing what Woolie was thinking...

Like me, I think he simply wanted different music for all species. A thing like that the proggy picks a vasudan support if you are flying a Vasudan fighter, just in this case not a support ship, a music.
Three things are to be done:
concept the music, or convert them from anystuff.
put into the table, and the data/musics dir
enjoy :D

Shamelessly stolen from Hidden Terror might I add :mad2:

Honestly, people only visit the SCP forum when they want stuff added - not to see stuff that's already there. :doubt:
The limits have been bumped for quite a while now - you can have up to 30 music tracks if you want.

Well it ain't like there's an updated thread to inform you of each new thing you guys add... is there?

Linked from the "where are the stickies" thread. Not used as much as it should be, unfortunately.

Yeah... but I suppose he figured he could use it because HT was cancelled, but I did restart it before he released Inferno. Never got a question whether he could use it though, :doubt:
Dunno how he got it either, probably from venom ? Damn frenchmen :drevil:

Goob, how 'bout a searchable database of SCP features, with parameteres for keywords, dates, versions and so forth?
-
:shaking:
That's beyond what I'm willing/able to do at the moment. Talk to Inquisitor. Perhaps he could set up a page on the VWatch FS2O site that lists all the features added.
Or, the readme could be put up on CVS and updated with every new feature that comes along. This might work better.

I've come up with "theme" soundtracks to each species for my campaign.
Terran-Shivan Alliance: I need a "heroic" tune for this, since they are the good guys in my campaign after all. I chose the ITF 1 soundtrack from The Babylon Project.
Vasudans: I needed a "Vasudan" yet menacing feel, since the Vasudans were the arch-enemy of the TSA.
Ambience: FS1 m5_nrml1
Battle 1: FS1 m4_bttl1
Battle 2: FS1 m5_bttl1
GTVA (Terran) and EA: Brassy, militaristic, "army music". The "2R" soundtrack that was in the Inferno VP but not used in the campaign worked perfectly.
Combined GTVA: For a blend of Terran and Vasudan, I'll the FS1 mission 3 soundtrack also found in the FS1 demo. It's some of my all-time favorite music.
Bosch/Gargant: For an evil madman in a nigh-unstoppable ship (the Gargant), you need evil music. Soundtrack #2, "Into the Fire", from The Babylon Project is fine.
Ancients: Rock/Techno stuff.
Ambience: TBP ITF 6 ambience
Battle 1: Hidden battle 1 (Inferno/Hidden Terror)
Battle 2: Hidden battle 2 (Inferno/Hidden Terror)

so it belong to HT

What about Venom?
-
 this just got very confusing.
Whats venom got to do with anything? He was on the HT team before.
