I see a huge host of campaigns out there, and recently finished the Derelict one (first try and i finished the destruction of the lucifer destroyer with only 2% health!) and hungry for more!
Problem is, i have a few restrictions on campaigns out there, and really have no idea where to get them from either.
Here are some of the problems i face while downloading new mods or campaigns
-FS2 Original
-Download limit. I cannot download anything larger than10-15MB in size per campaign. this means 90% of the mods out there are not an option
-story. I'm looking for campaigns with good stories (derelict had me on the edge of my seat for days!!). The Derelict campiagn was so good, it kept me off EF2 and other good games which i had :eek2:
If someone could point me to alist of where FS2 campaigns are located, detailing size and requirements, i would be much obliged
-
wait until BWO comes :)
go here if you want campaigns http://archives.volitionwatch.com/
-
Yeah, save BWO will be way too big for him.
Try Warzone. IT's made by the same people that made Derelict. Try Gloriano's link to look for it.
Oh, I hear LM3 is pretty good. Click my Green Avatar to find that.

(points to sig)
Try Deus Ex Machina. Short and sweet.

Another 56Ker I see. Slow our modems are. Big files take time the impatient ones do not have. Lead you to the Dark Side impatience can.

56k users, flashget, getright, or any other prog of that kind that might be to your liking are your friends ( I know, I used to be one too ;) ).
-
Or get broadband like I've now done. :)
-
Soon, soon it will be ours....
Meantime, the Aeos Affair is the nuts when it comes to campaigns - ten (I think :D ) missions of sheer enjoyment. Also, try the Allied Worlds demo campaign. I don't think the full thing was ever finished, but the demo's pretty damn good on its own, and there's some really cool mods and reskins in there (white Hecate, anyone? )
-
No, i'm not a 56k user.
i have cable (24/7) but what i also have are download limits (1 gig per month) and 3 other family members who use the system :P
-
Trade desert for download bandwidth... :p
AFAIK, I don't have a Bandwidth cap. :D
-
mmh, when I had cable, I had an upload limit, but no download limit. That's crazy what the providers can make up to get more cash :doubt:
-
What I did in my 56k days was to let it run overnight, so I didn't have to wait there while it downloaded. If your connection tends to fail often, try one of the various download managers out there, which can reconnect and resume the download automatically.
Anyway, PI should fall close to your space requirement (I'm thinking around 20mb at this stage), when it's finished that is.

you had no download limit at all? :wtf: so if your modem was fast enough, you could use all of their available bandwidth? :D
-
Heh, I have no limits on my dual T3 :p:D;)

What do you have? T99999?
Double T3 = roughly 100MBps

I was thinking more along the lines of actually having to force her off the computer for you to use it or having her using all your bandwith already for something else :D

Some 56kers, like me, do have the time.
They just don't have the money: especially if you're billed by the minute. Bandwidth is still expensive here.

Still you are talking utter f*cking crap. 1GB/sec is IMPOSSIBLE.
Speed record isn't even 1GB/sec. Its 923 MB/sec. Now you can say all you want but your talking crap here.
http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/internet/03/07/speed.record/
"The team was able to transfer uncompressed data at 923 megabits per second..."
This project costed over 1,000,000 US dollars in equipment only.
Also:
Even if they could transfer vast amounts of data tomorrow at reasonable prices, Newman noted that present-day computers are unable to handle such loads.
PWNED
-
can only download things 100/s mb
so it`s T3
and that fiber-optics thing i said was only joke

Broadband hasn't even reached my town... "Comcast" came and played with our cable, added over 900 channels, squared the price, and said, "Were sorry, but your area won't be getting our High Speed Internet for another five months. In the meantime, for an additional $50 a month, we can give you Comcast.net service, but you will need to keep your existing AOL service untill you get Broadband for the connecton."
-
Yeah
-
Damn TCO, way to get worked up. :p
It's HIG man, hard enough to translate his posts, more or less tell if "was only joke." :p
-
if some one ask why i need T3 it`s because my work when i upload something to my work computer or download files
some of those files are 1/2GB big

T3 connection can cost as much as $15,000 per month
Ok, thats it... Not even gonna talk to you anymore. :p Unless you are vice-president of Sony you can't pay for that yourself.
-
err... I would think the company would set it up for him if that what he used it for...
