I've heard a lot of things about Inferno ships lookng much different when they were first created (Orion-like Nemesis, the Gigas being a stretched Sath, etc.). Could someone show me pictures of the older ships?

The Orion Nemesis is the same model as the current one, you just need to change the textures using modelview.
Most of the old stuff is in here:

Though the Nemesis 1 isn't really useable as it's not textured well and has serious clipping problems.

Total remodel by me to fix the tons of horrible clipping bugs on the original, change a few things too.
Now has swappable nameplates with fsopen

I've gone through all the TS scene files I have on this pc, the rest are on several of over a hundred backup cds.
I'd rather make new better quaility stuff then go hunting for several years old buggy crap :D
Most of the remaining old stuff are old Ancient ships that don't really look Ancient.
I'm in a Shivan making mood right now, I'm trying to gather the biggest collection of Shivan mods :)

The beams are my 2nd attempt to make beams in Max that look like the ones we use in game.

They look far more powerful and far more pleasing to the eye. Basically an aesthetic thing. Those beams look like they can put out a LOT of hurt.

He means the large amoutn of hot white in the beam and the little wisps of white that make it look like surging veins in the red glow. :nod:

Hey Woo, I noticed an error in your Shivan ship list: the Gigas DOES appear in R1, if only for one mission
"Command, the forward cannon on that warship is powering...oh Jesus..."

There's a new Gigas model for R2. It's reskinned and has some fixes of bugs that I spotted after release.

All the designs i have seen are cool and interesting, hats off to the Inferno crew for creating an entire armada of the coolest ships i've ever laid eyes upon.
Speaking of interesting designs. During my trek around HLP, i ran across a cool pic of a vessel known only as the GTD Raynor.
It looks as cool as the Inferno ships. Maybe it could be used in Inferno as some kind of long range tactical destroyer.
Keep it up with the cool ships people!

Yeah, the raynor was made by a group of HLP's best model guys and released to the public, although I think at the moment it's only on Strattcomm's site. (in his sig).
Anywyas, I hear a lot of projects are using it (including DatDB) but I have yet to see one actually in game.

I'll head over and check out. As for the Raynor, if they do infernotize it, i would use it in the campaign i'm designing (if i ever get inferno :rolleyes:!)
But back onto thread subject, every model i've seen churned out so far has been superb. You've got hundreds of ships at the moment, i just hope FRED and Freespace can handle so many.

You're allowed to use the model in your own campaign, even if it's not from Inferno you know.

I know, i would, but from what i've heard, the Inferno Weapons and armor are supposed to be tougher than normal, so it would be exterminated too easily, even with Inferno guns.
And as for reprogramming it to use Inferno guns. The truth is........i dont know how to.
All i can really do is use FRED and that's about it. i'm only 15, have mercy:lol:.

The reason why the Raynor wasn't included in Inferno was it was very unstable on my old system, and anything that didn't work well for me didn't go in my campaign. Haven't tried the ship on my new system.

I thought so. Saw the Kain's and Demon on some pics in an earlier thread.
I think it's important that the old ships not be forgotton. I'm sure some people on HLP are fans of pirate missions\campaigns (the campaign i'm designing at this time contains alot of them), and to think realisticly, i don't think a bunch of Pirates could get their hands on the latest in GTVA ship designs. However, they might be able to get their snivling hands on some mothballed Fenris, Leviathans and Aeolus, perhaps even a Deimos or Orion if their lucky.

The first Shivan ship encountered in Inferno is the good old SF Scorpion :)
We don't really have pirates in the campaign so we don't have to worry about that, I'd rather have entire new ships for them than use the old FS2 ships like the Herc 2 or Perseus if we did.

You dropped the Demon but not the Ravana? The Demon is 10 times better than the Ravana. It looks better, it has more hit points, and it can defend itself if attacked from behind.

The Ravana fits into the fleet better than the Demon.
Blame Sadistic Sid, he complained when I added every Shivan model I can get my hands on into it :D
We have enough room to add the entire FS1 and FS2 Shivan fleets as well as our own and any other models I eventually get my hands on.

If you have the room to add every single vessel, then do it. Even if Inferno wont actually use most of the old ships, they are there in case fan missions want too, or you decide to boggle everyone's mind with the good old fashioned "Time travel" manuver.
I know it will seem like a waste of time, but trust me, you'll be glad for it one day...:D

It is actually possible (if things like the spacehunk and bastion are removed) to have all the FS2 ships in the R1 tables, however that will break with r2 onwards.
I do actually have tables for each FS2 ship to enable them to use INF weapons. Yeah even the Colossus :D
I may release a text dump if people want to add a few to their tables for archives campaigns, though I'd recommend only using a few.

That's great. I only really need the Colossus Infernotized (In my campaign, it wasn't destroyed, and is the flagship of the GTVA).
As for the tables idea, i know nothing about this subject, but would i be possible to have multiple .tbl's, and then program Freespace to look for different ships in different .tbl's.

Don't know if it's totally relevant but I have a couple questions. Are the Ancients ever getting more fighters? Or is the Kato all they got? Also, will we be seeing more similarities in the Terran fighters? They're all over the place design wise.

I for one am glad they weren't. I fought those in that fan campaign. Nasty buggers they be. o_o Their sheilds are near impossible to keep down. :nervous:
