Title: Don't mess with Texas
Post by: Stealth on August 20, 2003, 04:26:34 pm
Found this interesting as to why Texas is the only state that's on its own power grid:

yep, Texas is an all right place.  If it weren't for the heat and the cowboys it would be great(er)

Interesting article...except that it perhaps neglected on one fact and definately messed up on the other.

Here's the slight neglect.  There is four power grids in north america.  The west, the east, texas, and then there's quebec.

The power outage did not start in Canada.  Its been traced to Ohio.  The Ontario power grid is slightly more modern (although still massively outdated) than the New York one that we commonly sell to.

But I can't expect them to get everything right...it is after all MSN.

Further proof to my theory that Texas is to Canada what Quebec is to America! Ermm... :wtf:

I thought maybe you were a Texas nut, Stealth, so I thought saying Texas sucks, etc. in my first response was a bad idea, but you're right: Texas blows.

Hey, Ice, do you live in the GTA?

For anyone who doesn't, there was this one kickass interview with the Major of Toronto: Mel Lastman. He's know for saying his mind and not being very politically correct.

So, during the outage, Canada said it was the Americans fault , and vice versa. So, they ask Mel Lastman what he thinks. And he says "Well, have you ever seen the Americans take responsibility for anything!?"

Thats was great

i was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, and i moved to Texas about 10 years ago.  A few really cool things i have discovered:

not all the people here are cowboys
the people who aren't cowboys are pretty damned cool
alot of great looking women, i mean ALOT
wide open skies
sunsets....really kick ass sunsets
No humidity in West Texas
no snow.......cept for those two days a year.
hardly ever rains where i am,

Now for someone who likes it hot, and loves sunshine, West Texas rocks.

:wtf: :doubt:

fortunately my whole family lives together now, so that's cool... but when i get out of college i'm going to try to look for a job in California.  Texas is alright but i don't like it too much, i'd much rather live in California.  Texas has hot girls, granted, but it's too hot, too humid, a few cowboys :D, etc.
