Title: Animation with TrueSpace
Post by: TopAce on August 22, 2003, 03:30:16 pm
I don't know if any of you have tried making animations with TrueSpace. Well, I accidently got the idea to make one so I could use it somehow in RR(I don't know how).

Has anyone tried doing an animation with truespace and know how to do that? I know that in theory I should find an Animation Path Tool, but the help window didn't help much :(.

Any ideas?

Animations in TS? Very easy..

Errr...what exactly are you trying to do?
Flying ships and stuff can be done, people walking are more of a problem without plugins..

Take a closer look at the play and record tools...
You have a small window wher you set recording speed (PAL, NCTS, etc... the one with 24 frames per second is the best...). Don't select the scene, select object in the checkbox, then set the animation length to let's say 50 frames, click record and move the ship arund. then set it to 100 and move it aaround again (the smaller the intervals the better - note this is done so becoause TS moves the ship from the beginning position to the ending one during those 50 frames - and it does that using the shortest path, so devide it's path is smaller ones)
once you're done with onew ship, return the frames to 0 and repeat it with another ship.
When all ships are set to 0, just select the scene in the checkbox and hit play...watch the fun...

Ah, but what trueSpace can't do (as far as I'm aware) is weaponry or indeed decent camera stuff....

it can do it, it's just not very good at it, and there is a plugin that will do it well (though it's not free)

to animate in TS, select the object you want to animate, move it to were you want it to start, change the current frame to how long you want it to take to get were it's going, move it to were you want it to go. congradulations, you just animated somehting.

Yes... after you animate everything you just render it as an ani (don't forget to set all frames!).

There is a cool plugin (free) that let's you control a camera with a joystick(hold fire pressed to accelerate forward).
I made a cockpit, glued a camera to it, and flew around several big ship models...
looks awensome!

how do you render as an ani? You have to make them bmp's and convert them to 256-colors, and then rename them PCX's, and then run the ani creator... don't you?
