Title: Doing a clean install of FS.
Post by: Petrarch of the VBB on August 27, 2003, 07:30:46 am
I've decided to clean out all the mods and crap from my FS folders, so I've utterly deleted them, and I am starting afresh.

To this end, can someone point me to the latest builds of FS2Open, and the associated vpfiles and whatnot?

Also anything else I might need.

I've got at least 3 different builds of the FS source in my FS folder - you might do well to dig through the topics in the FS Source section and see what shows up?

And what about those projects you are working for? I mean TVWP, and the one another of your avatar, the one of The Apocalypse project.

TAP, I have nothing for TAP anyway, as it was all lost ages ago when I lost my old PC.
TVWP, it resides on my desktop.

I've been spring cleaning, you see, and I've brutally deleted about 8gig of stuff.

I'm seriously considering leaving FS modding altogether, and just contenting myself with playing the game in it's pure, mod-free form.

ARGH! The heat ray!

Sorry guys, but I've made up my mind. I'm leaving FS modding, and FS in general.
I've hardly touched FS for about 4 months, I've not done anything for TAP in about a year, and as for TVWP, there's nothing I can do.

I hereby tender my resignation. Kindly remove me avatars and revoke my internal forum access.

I'm still going to be here, but as for FS related stuff, it is no more.

Oh wait, they didn't have beams in the TVW.  Let me think...

What do you mean there's nothing you can do? :( What about music and interface art?  We still need our new ship icons.

Alright, tell me which ships you want doing.

You know, I'm too soft with you lot.;)

Hehe. :) Download the FRED pack in the sticky thread in the TVWP internal.  We don't have the Kestrel model ready yet, but you can do the other fighters and bombers.

Can you do loadout pictures or shield icons as well?

I can do shield icons, provided there are no shields. :D

had a thought.
"Clean, mod-free, FS, that means I can play it online"

So I did, and bugger me sideways, there are still people on PXO. I am amazed. I'm going to be playing FS online more often.

Whenever I use the launcher and have set the video options etc etc etc etc and clikc run it works perfectly. But then, I try to run the original FS2 campaign. This is the very first training mission. This happens before I even see the loading screen.

Yes, I noticed.  It was probably introduced when I added those extra sexps.  I have no idea what happened, but I'm looking into it.

Heh - those new sexps I added pushed the number over 256, causing all kinds of weird behavior.  I fixed it so that now we can have up to 1024 sexps without any problems. :)

So, it should be fixed.  Download from the same link again. :)

Still locks up hard. Have to reset my comp. Tried it a few times. always seems to happen right before the loading screen. Either when I click the ready room or when I'm about to start a mission.

Also when I try to use the -dshowvid command I get this,

Error: Unrecogzined command line parameter -dshowvid
