Well, after Fileplanet announced that the Call of Duty demo will only be available to subscribers, I guess some of the major websites decided they have had enough. So, they're not going to host the demo even when the non-exclusive one comes out. These websites include the biggest download portals on the web, so this is sure to have an effect. It includes: 3DGamers, Filefront, Fileshack, 3D Downloads, Bluesnews, Worthplaying, FileHell etc.
check out the whole thing here: http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=43882&boardid=1&id=&view=flatnew&start=0
All I can say is, Bravo :) :)

No one is going to pay for a demo...:doubt:

Fileplanet statistics say otherwise. They have a lot of people who are subsribers, simply so they can get the exclusives.

Activision:
The recent reaction to the upcoming Call of Duty demo has caught us here at Activision by surprise. We're appreciative and excited about the high level of enthusiasm the game has received throughout the gaming community. Due to the tremendous demand for the demo – we are answering the call by not only making the demo freely available to all gamers at the same time, but early – This Friday Night - just in time for the long weekend.
Gamespy has been a great partner - working with us so that we can make our fans happy and give them a taste of a game they're clearly excited about. The demo will be available across the net on fan and gaming coverage sites, including GameSpy's FilePlanet.
We think you'll love Call of Duty, and we can't wait for you to play the demo. Look for it Friday night

Well, looks like it really was a good idea :)

call of duty?
I think i'm completly out of the race, these days :doubt:
lotsa new games, musics etc that seems popular, and I don't even know about.

Call of Duty is another WWII shooter in the same vein as Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.
-
but with russians, as well as english and americans

I don't reallt like fileplanet, long waiting times, often relatively slow connections...
I prefer sites were I can use my download accelerator :)
-
I will probably get this game. :)

You using DAP? At Fileplanet just wait till you get the actual link, and it works fine (even the resume feature)
-
dap really helps :)
really fast.
i hate non-accelerated 200 meg+ downloads.
and the queue @ filpelanet is usually "long".

If you're looking to download the demo, there are much better places than Fileplanet.
I always use Worthplaying if possilble, since I consistently get over 150 kb/s. Then there's Filefront, Filerush, 3DGamers and many more.
-
Um. I got it off FP, no problems.
And from what I've played, it's not "just another WWII shooter". It's bloody good. Dark, atmospheric, very tactical, with ducking and leaning around ruined buildings and whatnot. Very intelligent AI from what I've seen. I honestly can't fault it.
Hell, I'm gonna play it again

I liked it, though it did seem to be more of the same. I played the MOHAA demo, and this didn't seem drastically different. I liked the way you have a squad around you, and they're constantly moving and changing positions depening on th situation. It did actually feel much like a WW2 movie, the way you make your way through town, and you and your squadmates are constantly ducking behind cover and such.
I played it several times through, and I'de recommend it to any FPS fan..

have you been mortared yet? You get blown across the field, and concussed. Great-ness
