I had a small Imperial fleet once, those models ruled all but would be miles to complex to model for a game (well, if you kept all the details anyway)

shame cos they are really brillant models.

Skaarj, a Space Marine Battle Barge would be cool, but high on the polys. I've seen the model up close and......yeesh!

I'm the only one here who's actually made a BFG ship for FreeSpace 2. It's a Vasudan-textured Eldar Frigate that is player flyable. Get it here (http://theswarmwar.150m.com/nepthe.zip) if you want it!

I would love to see BFG ships in FS2, but modelling them would be a real nightmare! The FS2 model hierarchy would probably not even take a Chaos/Imperial frigate let alone a Battle Barge, Desolator class Battleship or even...........the Planet Killer!! *Shudder*:shaking:

I did try to start a Sword class Frigate, but making that prow........yeuch!!

The Cobra is possibly something that's 'doable,' but I've not exactly got one lying around!! I'm a Chaos player and my girlfriend plays Eldar.

And thanks for the appreciation of the Nepthe! I'm glad SOMEBODY likes it! :D

I couldn't get the Pulsar lance to 'Pulse' though......

One way that I *could do it is having two firepoints on top of each other, and playing with the TBL entry so that it pulses three times before eating all the energy.....or something........

Battlefleet Gothic has some very cool ships, but as has been said to give any true detail we'd need an engine seven times as powerful as fs2.

I agree. I was looking at the Peorth earlier (my Repulsive class Grand Cruiser - one of two that is) and was trying to work out how I could 'cheat' and texture map some details on......but I don't think it's doable to be honest...........I think the only ships you could do would be Eldar........But I dunno......

I've never played Battlefleet Gothic, but a couple of my friends do, and it's so much fun watching them all get their asses kicked. But I don't like the look of the Imperial fleet, I do like the Eldar ones. I suppose some of the Ork ships could be done in FS2....

You know, I came up with the idea of Gothic long before it actually was released, quite annoyed I was really.

nope, I remember a guy posting pics of a chaos cruiser once.

I don't like much the space marine fleet, but I love the imperial navy :)
The new tau fleet is interesting, too.

Killfrenzy: Peorth? mmh? no, can't be :p

Chaos Cruiser? How the hell did he manage that?!?!?!?!?!? The poly count must have been through the roof!

And Peorth as in The Fourth Goddess, yes! :D I've also got a Battleship (Desolator class) named the Skuld! :D

nope, the mesh was fairly simple, but the shape was astonishly accurate, iirc. some wise modeling, in fact. just needed better maps. Unfortunatelly, the dude posted that ship, the thread went on for a couple days, then he just leaved the place. Too bad, really.

hah, Peorth is the hotest one, nice pick :D ( so, does your Desolator have the Hammer of 0wn4ge? :D )

That put aside, a BFG mod would be hot, IMHO. Now that 40K has nicely depicted fighters and bombers ( thanks, mainly, to forgeworld ), interesting things could be done with FS2 in that regard.

not a bad idea! a thunderhawk, THUNDERBOLT HEAVY FIGHTER or a Marauder Destroyer bomber wouldnt be to hard to model would it? ps i got a planetkiller:D

My Dark Angels Thunderhawk filed with two assualt squads, a captain and a librarian used to be the terror of the cosmos. With an assualt value of 28, they coud take on titans and win

Damn, Epic was deeply cool. I wish I still followed it, but it was expensive and the denizens of the local GW were a right bunch of twits. They reminded me of a real-life version of the VBB, complete with flaming and spamming :blah:

I suppose the best way to go about it would be to do it high poly in something like Modeller, and then use the Poly reduction tool to get it down to FS2 levels, but you'd still need the Source Code Project stuff to have enough poly's I think.
I wouldn't want to try and model any of Games Workshops stuff to be honest, it's ultra high detail, and the only way you could get away with it is if you have some serious texturing skillz.

Flipside :)

No. Chaos manage to conquer most of the planets, but finally, the imperial navy holds supremacy in space, rendering any further try from the chaos to go farther useless, while the imperials can still have reinforcement w/o any pb.
A cheesy way of hiding a draw with a false victory. Cadia didn't even fall.

wot u say is true but it will be a very long time before Abaddons forces are sent back, and i qoute

"The Thirteenth Black Crusade has broken the Imperium’s hold upon the Cadian Gate- perhaps forever. The raging tempest of the Eye of Terror has surged forth, engulfing those worlds lost to Chaos. The Imperium no longer bars the gate to the Eye, only a small channel remains through which Imperial Navy vessels may pass to bring aid to the desperate forces upon Cadia.

At the close of the Thirteenth Black Crusade, Cadia still stands. But she stands alone, a failing beacon flickering against the encroaching night. Total war is come to Segmentum Obscurus, and all hopes of repelling the invaders are dashed. The Imperium must now consolidate its grip upon those worlds it still holds, and prepare to fight a war that will not end within the lifetime of any of its combatants. While Cadia still stands, humanity has reason to hope, but Abaddon the Despoiler has finally achieved what he has failed to do on twelve previous occasions, over ten thousand years- he has breached the Cadian Gate, and none can now hold back the inexorable tide of Chaos unleashed upon the Imperium of Man." final Newsletter

chaos didnt win fully but they did get a victory

yeah, but the common trend is that if chaos won the eye of terror campaign, they would get Cadia down and would go up to Terra, causing major destruction on it's path. That would have started the fluff anew. The real outcome is really disapointing, fluff wise, what does it changes? nothing at all :doubt:.

The only problem with a BFG Mod for FS2 is the 'Battle Lines' fighting styles. The game is designed over a cross between Nelson's age and WWI/II......don't know how well it'd translate.....
