The rotating barrel thread has made one thing obvious:

We need a way to set different loadout choices for the different weapon banks mounted on a ship (like missile/laser banks).

So you could have one bank for rotating weapons, one bank for some laser systems, and your missiles. Also you could add special banks for bombs (with a huge loadout space) but you can only put bombs there (no more 400 harpoons :P )

Of course, this could be a mess to implement, but it would help to design more specific ships :)

I think there's been a miscommunication somewhere. Say you want to have a primary with a rotating barrel. You make a subobject, set it to rotate and stuff and then add the new line which links it the primary bank you want. Say you then want another, old-skool primary. You just add a normal primary. In that set-up, bank 0 would be a rotatey one and bank 1 would be a common-or-garden one. Easy.

And in any case, bank-specific loadout restrictions have already been implemented. :nod:

It was around the time CoW was released (still can't get over that name :lol: ) as it created a fairly major bug with that particular campaign.

May as well put this thread to good use - isn't Open suposed ot supprt up to six secondary banks? Goob's spinning primary build seems to be unhappy with my five-bank XB-290 bomber, crashing when I drag the icon on to the Alpha1 slot in the loadout screen or when I try to change my secondary weapon bank. Oh, and the secondary wpaons HUD ani doesn't show up at all, though that might just be cos it needs redrawing a bit bigger like.

There's only support for two primaries and three secondaries on the interface, and even AI ships can't have more than four secondaries.  Fixing this would be difficult.
