Is there a basic FS2 build but with the simple modification of a missing CD check? Just wondering if there's one floating about, for the occasions when I try to test stuff under vanilla FS2.

i've got my FS2 with a no-cd crack. it also includes pxo and mve
i can upload my exe if you want.

Take it to PMs, can't be discussing No CD cracks around here and you guys know it.

Unlocked because I don't believe that was diamondgeezer's intent. He wants a fs2_open EXE built from the original Volition code, with no modifications except that CD checking is disabled. This is entirely permissible and possible, and I'm sure someone would be glad to oblige as soon as CVS is working again. :)

Yeah, Kali mate, I was asking for a basically a FS open build wasn't I? I mean, I didn't even use the word crack did I? I don't mean to tell you how to do your job, but seriously dude, that was a little bit of an overreaction.
Kasperl, if you could get me that build I'd appreciate it. Ta.

Kasperl's sounds like a hacked version of the original FS2. Which is very likely illegal. The released FS2 source has never included PXO or MVE support.
Not something to post a link to in a public thread on the HLPBB.

Well might a coder whip up a NoCD EXE if it's not too much bother? I mean, if it's a lot of hassle (which I doubt) then don't worry about it, but if someone's got a spare moment...
Coolmon: I assumed Kasperl wasn't talking about an actual crack, since we all know and try to obey The Rules According To Thunder.

*Shrug* It does, but wasn't the hosted FS2 copy taken down because of legal issues? That copy was still *technically* illegal; Interplay/whoever they are now doesn't seem to care what happens to FS2, which is why it was hosted in the first place. Right now the main concern is that GS will stop hosting HLP if people start posting links to warez/cracks/etc , so they can't be held accountable if lawyers come howling for payment.
There's nothing stopping you from uploading it and sending the URL to DG, with a PM or IM or email, but the admins will probably have to take down a link if you post it here.

That was pretty much why I locked this thread in the first place. I mean you can discuss it here. But no code or links can be posted publically - it does look way to much like simply creating a NOCD crack for the game and you do all know the rules on that now.
Since it's being discussed fairly - no lockage - but please be mindful of what you say publically :)

ok, the hotu version is still up, and it uses about the same exe as i seem to have. i think i'll just keep quite, and uplaod it and pm the link, but i actually think anybody could get that exe by downlaoding the right part of the HOTU archive.

OK, not wanting to press the debate now that the process is done and dusted, but what's so different about what I asked for from any other FSOpen build? I mean that's what I was aiming for, an FSOpen build without a CD check (just like every other build), not some dodgy hacker crack from a website - we all know they're bad and evil and will condem us to hell in the after life.

I don't think anyone took exception to your original post. The problem was kasperl's reply.
DG maybe you could try one of the already existing earlier builds? DTP's first build or maybe one of Komet's builds? I should have a copy of at least one of those lying around somewhere hereabouts if you can't find it elsewhere.
