Post by: DarkElNino on September 07, 2003, 08:24:08 pm: people keep talking about mods, i think i know what they are from previous games ive played, but what are they in FS2. plus can u give me a link where i should i dl them from and which ones u would reccomand to dl. Also how to make them work.

Post by: lobsterclaw on September 07, 2003, 08:28:29 pm: Mods are modifications to the game, including new maps for ships (makes them look different), new models (new ships to put in game, some to fly) and basically everything that could be changed to the game.

Try HLP's mod page (it's on the front page nav bar) to look for some stuff. And you can always download some campaigns, like Inferno, which is stuffed full of mods. :nod:

First, try going to the HLP home page (3dap.com/hlp) and looking under the databases. Also, while you're here, scroll down to mods like Inferno and Lightning Marshall.

I'm sure everyone else would mention something else.

which program can I use to alter the ships.table ?
(I'm trying to insert Kazan's missle ship)
is it a simple case of cut/copy then paste ?
not sure if i can insert a text document (as downloaded) in to a table ?

Just extract the table file you want to modify (in this case I suppose it's "ships.tbl") from the game VPs with VPView (find it here (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/freespace/downloads.shtml)), add your entry to it, and save it into your "data/tables" folder inside your Freespace 2 install folder.

Post by: magatsu1 on September 12, 2003, 04:05:35 pm: Got it now. My mistake was trying to modify the table while in VP Viewer. I've changed the table with word pad and have now got Kazan's missle corvette working.
