Title: Anyone with Poser/Poser skills?
Post by: Black Wolf on September 18, 2003, 03:50:01 am
'Twas a tossup between here and FS modding as to where I should post this. Anyway, I'm sure any of you arty people who've also delved into FRED from time to time will haave noticed tht there are only 5 command heads (Discounting the good Admiral of course, and the Two Vasudan heads) that we can use to represent every ship in the FS universe, and that includes civillians, pirates etc. etc.
, one of whom is the very recognizeable Terran Command Guy.

What I was hoping was that some of you poser people would be able to at least attempt to rectify this with a few more faces. Ideally you'd have 10 or 20 so you'd almost never have to repeat in a campaign, but that's obviously pushing it. What would be a good starting point however would be a few more GTVA captains and at least two or three civilillian heads to break up the repetiveness. I don;t know how much work would be involved in this, but if anyone's willing to try, I'm sure there'd be a lot of thankful FREDders out there.

<--------- Has Poser 5

I'll look into it, but the hard part will actually be creating the models in the first place, since using the Box Standard one would start to look a bit obvious after a while :)

Doh! Missed the reply.

Err, awesome :) No rush though. In fact, if you could even just do a single civillian one any time before OR comes out I'd be more than happy :)

This can be done, actually, with poser 5, the hardest part is the background!

You could go the Admiral bosch way and put him against what looks like a really high contrast TCov7 or something, but I think maybe we can do aa little better - gimme a few hours, I'll see what I can cook up.

One I made for Inferno:
Poser 4 used there.

The background is the Antares bridge set from Renderosity freestuff section.
I can't animate in poser so mine are just stills for now...

Hmm. It seems I've made a bit of a discovery. Since these are only fairly small images when they come out (180x120) you can use a detail of a larger pic to get a moderatley cool, sc i fi looking BG.

Images sto...borrowed from here (http://www.lcstages.com/bridge.html) btw.

Just a test render, but here you go :D I'll work on the facial expression and making his head not look like it's on a pole ;) Oh yes, and the Eminem hair will HAVE to go, as soon as I figure out how........

EDIT : Come to think of it, he wouldn't look out of place as a Vulcan ;)

Is there a limit on those head boxes?

If not I'll see about whipping up some good capship head backgrounds.  I'm hopeless on the actual head, but I can definately make some bridge environments for them.

The only limits to the backgrounds is that they are B&W and that they are 160 x 120 in size :)

Poser 5 lets you randomise features on the standard model, so you have more or less infinite supplies :)
