Don't know if I messed something up or something, but I don't think the glow maps are working for me. o_O Is there something I have to click on the launcher to activate them or something?

do you have glow mapps installed?

As far as I know they should be. They're in the vp file that came with the FS2 Open file. I'll try extracting them and seeing if that does anything.

What video mode are you running? They don't show up as well on my system when I use DirectX 8.

Err, I dunno if its supposed to, but specular highlights aren't present on my system when I run in OGL. Ships are illuminated by polygon in DX8.
System:
Windows 98
2.6gHz AMD Athlon XP 333 FSB
256 DDR Ram
TNT2

I thought that shine maps don't work/don't work well with old cards like the TNT2.

IIRC quite a bit of the code runs in software mode, and as long as DX8 specific commands are not used, it is possible to have some of the effects with TNT2.

u making sure your using the FS2 Open launcher and selecting the FS2 Open exe and DX 8? May be a bit basic but that was my problem at first.
