It's kind of a cross between something in the DVD Menu of "The World is Not Enough" and my trying to imagine things anime style. Again, sorry for those who can't view the image.

You got the anime styling down right. How big is it? I assume those plates rotate madly around it?
Its gorgeous.

Looks like its floating in lava... in the middle of a volcano

Looks like the Angelfire logo. And yes, I copied the link into a fresh browser session.
-
Looks good (though I wonder what prevents those plates from simply spinning off into the void). When are you going to release it? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

The same thing that kept the Knossos from slowly drifting apart in eight component pieces. PFM.

eh, The outer ring (the plates) and the inner ring will spin in opposite directions, like the Knossos. Not sure when I'm gonna release it. I gotta redo parts of it. But once that's done, soon as I learn how to pof edit, I'll release it.
[edit] And I have to figure out how to make the sub-objects right. (I know, there's a turret tutorial that partially explains it, but I'm screwin' it up somehow)

Pretty good, what's the poly count?
-
1613, according to ModelView, but there's a few that have to come out... if I can figure out how to delete things in TS (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

click point edit faces and keep the buttpn pressed. move the mouse up til it says point edit faces again. now mark the poly you want to erase. click point edit faces again and select delete face. or simply press delete
If it is a object you want to erase the simply pres delete when you have the base object selected.

Man didn't you know that Angelfire doesn't like you to put the pics you uploaded on to their comps to be image tagged to other sites! They'll close your account, they've done it to me for that.
Get a new host here ("http://www.0catch.com"). They don't care about the image tagging.
-
yeh, i cant see it i just get that damn angelfire logo and i've copied - paste (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)
-
Try "refresh". The Angelfire image is probably in your browser cache.
-
I STILL can't see the image... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

If I ever get the website up for my campaign, I'll host there. 1 question though:
When I made this, I did it in Blender. The three rings are separate models, and I can't quit figure out how to make the outer ring and the inner one submodels. I've tried the turreting tutorial, but, unless I'm doing something wrong, it's not quite coming out right.
[edit] Nevermind, got it.

ARGH!!!! I can't get it to run in the game! Is it because I'm just replacing the POF for the knossos as the POF for the Terran one? Because everytime I try to use it, FRED2 craps out. Please help!
-
I'm no expert on FS2(cuz I don't have it) but the reason FRED2 is "crapping" out is because you have too many faces, polygons, and/or vertices on you ship. Here's a saying I thought up last nite, "The bigger ya make em' the lesser ya can detail em".
-
my bet is that you have too many polys per subobject
-
anyway, I can't see the pic (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)
even copy/paste won't work this time (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)
-
Just saw it, but I don't get it!
-
eh, I got it working (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Didn't have to delete any faces or reduce the detail. FS2 just doesn't like something about Cob2Pof, but it can handle Kazan's converter.
-
So again I ask, are you gonna release it soon, Starfury? Are ya, huh? Please a la prettiness and cherry topping? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
lol I could release it right now, if I wanted... but it wouldn' be compatible with any other mod... I just got it in the game today (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
What do you mean by incompatible? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wtf.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/confused.gif) Does it not just need its own table entry yet? If you got it in the game then what else oculd be left to do?
-
Nothing (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) (I think)
^^ What it looks like in the game (I retextured it)

It's soooooo good, but i hate those plates araund em. Only inner circles would be cool. And you can add some turrets on it if you know how =)
-
It is a jump gate, it isn't supposed to have turrets.
-
I really wanna see it, but i still get that angelfire logo (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)
-
Ok, for those of us who are interested, I've just sent the ZIP file to HLP to be added to the mods section. In the mean time, anybody who wants it before then, I can ICQ it to, I guess. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
Excellent work. I'd only make one change, make the outermost ring of plates (the smallest ones) rotate in the opposite direction. Right now, they are padlocked to the ring farther in, and move at exactly in the same direction at the same speed. If the outer ring was moving in the opposite direction, the eye wouldn't notice the correlation and it would look more convincing.

I see four rings. The two outer ones rotate clockwise to with respect to the Hades, the centermost ring rotates counterclockwise and the second ring from the center stays in one place. I was suggesting that the outter most of the clockwise rotating rings actually be a seperate rotating subobject, going in the opposite direction of the next ring in.

The outer one goes clock, the inner one goes anti and the middle one just shakes coz of the crapness of whatever program was used to make the gif.

The outer one goes clock
Yes. It is two rings though: an outer one and an inner one. The outer one is small plates, the inner one is longer plates.
the inner one goes anti and the middle one just shakes
Agreed.
I hope this sufficiently explains what I mean by four rings. If not, then I'll have to draw a picture, and I'm too bloody lazy.

Its sooo cool. Try to add some turrets on ring that doesn't move
-
eh, I might if I decide it's needed to balance it. But there's going to need to be an Arcadia near it for control purposes. And I suppose I'll have to add a dock point to it in the future. And make a still one. Oy, so much to do. lol (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
