After several months of hard work by the HLP staff and many weeks of testing by the hosted project leaders, the new HLP website and forums are finally online! Better looking, easier to use, and more dynamic than ever, HLP 2.0 is our gift to a hard working and dedicated community.
Browse around the new website, check out the new features at the forums, and enjoy!
The new forum features include:- Suggest post as news: automatically adds a news item to the website, to be approved by the staff.
- Quick reply box: reply to a thread directly from the thread display page.
- Automatic avatar generation: generates user avatars from his project data on the HLP website.
The new website features include:- Dynamic content posting: anyone can post content to the website (pending staff approval)
- Strong integration with forums: the website now displays relevant information straight from the HLP forums
- Dynamic rating system: any and all content from the website can now be rated by HLP members.
- Dynamic feedback system: send feedback to the HLP and Hosted Project staffs straight through the website.
- Hosted project news and content: hosted project leaders can now add news and content directly to the HLP website.
And much, much more. Check out the FAQs on the website if you have any questions, or ask them here! If you find any problems with the forums or website, or with your own profile, let us know so we can fix it as quickly as possible.
Again, enjoy! We hope you like the new place.

All I have to say is, Styxx is da man! :)
-
Hurrah!
-
HURRAY!!!
-
*salutes Styxx*
(Guys, this has nothing to do with me. I was just lucky to come back with this timing. All kudos to Styxx :))
-
Woot and yays! :)
EDIT: I didn't realize the forums would look this cool in addition to the main page. Impressive work.
-
*drools at the new stuff* Setekh and HLP 2.0 in the same week! Something creepy's going on!
-
i seem to be missing a few avatars.
otherwise this is really great work
-
Just a notice to everyone missing avatars:
Talk to your project leaders. The avatars will be generated from the project data on the website, so they must add you as staff members on the projects. I'll run the updated regularly until it becomes fully automated in the very near future, so don't complain about avatars to us.
;)
-
Yes indeed, it's damn slick. ;)
-
Woah, I was really shocked when I saw the splash screen. And despite vigourous denial, I still think this has something to do with Setehk...it just a bit too coincidental :p :p
Congrats on the iniative Styxx, you're truly one of the most active admins, great work.
However, and I may get killed for this, I liked the site better before.. The new layout just doesn't sit well with me. Sorry, but thatsmy opinion. Defentiely something that can be refined over time, so its no biggie...
-
It's a great looking site! Only annoying thing is that damn acronym box appearing when I move my mouse pointer over things on the front page. Perhaps it's because I'm using Opera...
Anyway, congrats Styxx. It's a very thorough and eye-catching piece of work!
-
 WHOA!!!!1
I have HLP bookmarked so I never type in the URL, imagine my suprise when I saw the new site design.

Nice of you, in a way, but you ought not to take the credit from Styxx - he's really done an awesome job here. :)
-
Why are the topic pages still green?
-
Erm, what topic pages?
-
Never mind, it's fixed now!
-
If you mean the GenFS/SCP forums etc., that's the way they're meant to be. The colour scheme of FreeSpace is mainly green. :)

Yep.

Actually, I meant more like "ze plan is unfolding perfectly" coincidence. I wouldn't be surprised if that stars were in alignment or something.;) ;)
-
Hm... If I read this first, Setekh wouldn't have made me look like an ass... Not that it was his intention... :(
-

Oh, right. :) Yeah, that makes sense to me too... :D
Hey, Raa? No one ever needs to know... :)
-
And on a side note, the forum banners of hosted projects look... odd. Maybe there shouldn't be the HLP banner on the background?
-
Looks really nice! Nice and easy to reply as well :D
Flipside :)
-
I don't like it.
...Just kidding! ;7
-
Holy **** man, this is sweet!
-
Um...
Uh...
*is too impressed for words*
-
you cant click the banners to go back to the main index, other that that it looks sweet as!
-
I'd kinda like the page flipping thingies to be above the reply box, rather than below it. I'm not gonna reply to a thread unless I'm on the last page.
Pardon me for nagging, but I've been Shocked and Awed™ by the website for the past week...
-
the only complaint i would have is the "HLP a year ago" box at the bottom of the page. i would imagine some n00bs will bump hella old topics
-
Did you try to bump one? ;)
-
Ohh... Pretty! Good JOB!
-
Hey Styxx, could you maybe change the "Unclicked link" colour to white, instead of blue. Try it, and I think you'll agree that its an improvement, since red and blue don't really go well together except in a few cases. Oh and, I'm talking about the main page incase you're wondering.
edit: Thanks man, much better don't you think?
-
Nice site, I like it.
-
Sweetness!
New design is awesome!
-
very nice Styxx ;)
yeah, i'm missing some avatars too :D
and could you plz move my "S" avatar to the front of the the list, because right now it's in the middle ;)
-
thanks for the quick reply box.

The RED... it BURNS!
Other than that, pretty cool.

Su-tehp did, and I did (on DatDB internal), and we both had good reasons but it wouldn't let us bump. We clicked "yes" and it still wouldn't let us do it. So either you're being truely evil and giving us a false option, or the confirm button doesn't work exactly as it should. You may want to take a look into this, or you'll hear more complaining from the hosted projects about not being able to ressurect the old posts when they are really relevent.
-
It's up \/\/00+! Now I have a place to hang out again.
(if you haven't guessed HLP is basicly the only online forum I visit. ):shaking:
-
*salutes Styxx*
Nice work
-
Yeah man thats great
-
This is a fast reply.
Thank you
-
I don't suppose you enabled custom headers and footers did you? ;)
-
WOW:eek:
Styxx you've Done a wonderful job

Great work Styxx

*hats off to Styxx*
HLP - Now 30% more addictive! :D

Sorry, I forgot to update the hosted project templates. Should work fine now. :)
-
Styxx, I'm not sure if it's me, but there seems to be some problem when using img and lvlshot tags on pictures not hosted on HLP? It seems to tag the HLP address onto the front of the Web address you are using.
Am I just using the tags wrong or is it a problem?
Thanks
Flipside :D
-
*Double-takes*
Whoa. That came as a shock. 'tis good, though.
-
wow, it looks like this place was completely overhauled in the few days I was gone. I really like the idea of having any recent news posts show up on the forum page as well (good for people like myself who visit this place much more frequently than the main website), although the images might get a bit distracting. Anyway, this is very impressive stuff.
-
The images on the top of the forum home are not the latest news, but the latest highlights. The highlights can be anything - threads, news, articles, mods, scp upgrades, models, renders - that is considered cool by the staff. The idea is to direct the attention of the forum members to interesting content, mainly in the forums.
So, if you want your thread to show up in the Highlights, post cool stuff. :)
-
Holy Cow Tipping Batman!
This is verrrry nice! :D
-
-
It's the new ****, as sung by Marilyn Manson. ;)
-
Just dropped by... wow - great work on the site people!! :D
-
Oh and one other thing...
Why is the Trillian logo at the bottom of the screen?
-
Hm? :wtf:
-
Those are the engines of a Boanerges, I believe.
Trillian=:yes: :yes:
-
(http://www.aussitot.net/images/logos_pager/logo_trillian.gif)
Oh, I get it. Yeah, it's a Boanerges. ;)
-
Is the rating system a bit messed up or is it just me?
-
Um question about project staff pages. Why aren't parts of the bio queried from the HLP forum db?
-
Whoah! I'm away for a short while and things CHANGE! :D Super Sweet! Well done!
-
Ooo look at this... very posh, I must say.
Sadly my internet access is a bit more limited now, I've just started university, and the uni's computers are good and all, but i can't get internet access in my flat. Which is hell.
But i'll check in past from time to time, there is a computing suite in my halls of residence.
And power to the quick reply box!
Pete.
-
I'm away for like three days and this happens. Thanks guys. :p
But that's truly amazing. Well done!
-
Two problems:
1) The Scroll of Atankharzim's banner on HLP 2.0 is a big red x
2) For some very odd reason, SA's description blurb on the page changes the capital A at the beginning of both sentences to a captial S, like this:S Vasudan campaign set some 10 to 15 years after the destruction of Capella, The Scroll of Atankharzim offers a rich and dynamic gaming experience. S fantastic storyline weaves together elements from the highest examples of myth and epic with the science fiction adrenaline of FreeSpace 2.
When I look at the description as written in the description box on the content moderator page, it has the proper letter, but on the main page it is screwy.
-
Fixed. :)
-
Avatars are still knackered. But you knew that, so I'll shut up. :D
-
What ones are you missing? So long as you are added on HLP 2.0's staff database (eg. you appear on the staff listing of your hosted page, like this one (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/hlp/project_show.php?pro=4&cat=5)), then your avatar will automatically appear in the forum. Go bark up your project leaders, and if they think they've added you, then come back to us. :)
-
Main HLP log on. Is it for Admin's/Project leaders?
To lazy to look far into my searches. :p
-
Yes, and for anyone who wants to post content and show up as the author.
-
Ah, you see I tried to log on and it say the username and password won't work, or something like that. And I show up as a guest at the bottom of the page. :doubt:
-
Did you register at the site or just tried to use your forum username and password?
-

Me again. Well I tried to register, but it says
Registration error
This username already exists on the HLP website.
:(
-
Hm, and your forum user and password don't work? (they should if you've been automatically imported). I'll update your password today.
-
You should be able to access the website using your forum username and password now.
-
*headz to HLP main site*
*tries to log in*
*repeatly bangs head on table top.*
It's still not working. Do I need to register?
-
Nope. I've already checked your data, it should be working right. I'll re-check it. :p
-
Mind trying again?

\/\/00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000+!!!1!!one!
You da admin, styxx! :p
-
Sorry for the trouble - you were registered, but as "pending". That happened to people who were added to projects early in the beta test or just as the site went online.
-
Thanks anyway. BTW uber great job on HLP 2.0.:yes:
-
What's the point of registering and logging into the main site?
-
Posting content and rating items, mostly. If you're a project leader or moderator, then you can also approve, edit and remove content.
-
Indeed. It also helps if you're logged on when you comment or complain about stuff, like "why can't I access this stuff?" received from 'Guest'... that doesn't really help, if you know what I mean. ;)
-
Can the quickreply feature be moved under the page hyperlinks? It's very annoying to have to scroll down that extra 200 pixels.
So I'm nitpicking. Sue me. :p
Ack, no, not literally! :nervous:

You don't read the thread before you reply? :blah:
-
IDEA:
How about a email system so if the user is registered and he/she submit's something they get an email when it is approved!
-

I do...why do you ask?
-
Because you complain about scrolling down that extra distance.
-

WW said it. Unless my IE displays differently to yours, by the time I've read all the replies, I'm already at the quick reply box - no need to scroll down any further. :)
-
I think he's talking about the post reply/topic buttons, in which case he is an ass.
-
I think he means something like this...
-
Ohhh, I get you. :) Well, I kinda like it the way it is, but I'll bring that to Styxx's attention.
-
Yeah, Goober's got it
-
We don't have to move it - we could just as easily add a copy above the quick reply box. :)
-

But...but...the page loading times will deteriorate! :p ;)
-
:wtf:
-
*drowns Coolmon in liquified chill-pill*
It'll be okay. ;)
-
Ow. :p
Another nitpick request..can we have a direct "Full-size picture >>" link for the Featured pic?
