Title: ok, the ceiling is on the floor

i come home from the doctor,see some white mess on the floor, walk into the room, and see halve of the ceiling is scattered ovewr the floor, the furniture, and some stuff my mom was working on 2 hours before.

turns out the guys who plastered it only plastered over the old layer of stuff, instead of replacing it.

half way through cleaning it up, suddenly, more starts coming down, luckily on the other side of the room.


just so you know why i won't be visiting the forums all that often the coming couple of days.

Beat the crap out of the guys who did the work on your ceiling.. and good luck clearing up!

uhm, i'm 15, there construction workers.

and i'll need it, cause more **** should be coming down about now....

Ask for you money back before you proceed do beat the crap out of them. But do it anyway.

If they aren't civil, have your parents call their lawyer.  There isn't much that brings me to the point where I consider litigation but home contractors who wimp out on their job is one of them.

My parents had about $20,000 worth of work done a few years ago including a new roof and new ceiling in an area that had be leaking.  When the guys they had hired to do the work were done it looked real good and didn't leak anymore, at least for a couple of months.  This angered my father to the point where he considered suing the guy that had done and guarenteed the work.  The guy was conveniently out of buisness.

Also, get somebody different to do the repair work.  I recommend gypsum board over plaster & lathe but moving from one to the other costs more than your parents would be willing to spend.

well, the old layer was fine as far as anyone could see at the time. and according to our own contractor, there was nothing they could have done about it. it was a problem with the heat from the summer, they leaking this spring, and the water from leakages from the previous owners.

also, yeah,we're taking the same guys, basicly cause there still the best according to our contractors and they did do a good job in the rest of the floor.  and because they could start working monday and be done with it the next day or wednesday tops.
